POV: Dani

Jorden tenses in surprise before kissing me back. I smile in my head as it is not easy to catch him off guard. Right after he knocks himself out of his daze, Jorden is quick to take control by gently swiping his tongue across my bottom lip. Almost greedily, I open my mouth allowing the kiss to escalate to this new level.

"Echhem." Someone behind us clears their throat, resulting in Jorden and me pulling apart. I blush when I turn around to see a girl with her hands on her hips. Her blonde hair is tied into a loose side braid that suits her freckles well.

Jorden leaves his arm around me but stares intensely at the girl. "I beg your pardon?" His eyebrow twitches upwards in a questioning expression, not the least bit fazed to have been caught kissing me. My heart tugs as I remember the man who was known for that look. The only difference between the two is Cole never had to talk to make his thoughts clear; the silent eyebrow was always enough.

The girl stands up straighter drawing my attention back to her. "This is a public place and I would prefer if my niece and nephew didn't have to see that." I look behind her to where two children sit; twins, one little boy and one little girl. "How old?" I ask, thinking about the child I am carrying. "Four." She responds, her harsh expression dropping at the mention of the children.

"We meant no trouble." I clarify, "And we were actually leaving now." I stand up and tug Jorden with me. He frowns but follows me as we throw away our trash and head out the doors to our car. "You know," Jorden says after a while of silent driving, "I'm still hungry." "You are a fat ass!" I shout before smiling and rolling my eyes. "I'm sure we can find something at the house for you to eat." Jorden smiles as well and rests his hand lazily on the steering wheel. "I'm proud of you Dani. You acted like a true Luna back there with that human girl." I smile at his praise and sit back in the seat silently.

My smile however, disappears when we make it to the pack house. "What is going on?" Jorden shouts upon walking through the front door. Quinton sighs and sits down on the couch dropping his head into his hands. Opposite of him, Calla folds her arms across her chest and frowns.

"Jorden, tell your father that as the Alpha's mother I have the right to order around the warriors." Quinton jumps up from his seat before either Jorden or I can get a word in, "Damn it Calla! If someone's life is being threatened, sure! The warriors aren't here to carry around your shopping bags!" The new Beta clenches his fists and continues his verbal assault.

"When will you get your head out of your own selfish ass and grow up! I've been patient with you, I've tried to be good to you, but you make it so damn difficult. I took care of you all these years and gave you status in this pack and how do you repay me? You act like a fucking embarrassment!" Quinton throws his arms up in the air and storms out of the room utterly fed up with Jorden's mother.

With tears in her eyes Calla sits down on the couch quietly with no comeback. She pats the seat next to her, signaling Jorden and I's presence. Wordlessly, and slightly confused as we walked in to only see the end, we do as the woman wants.

"Your father and I aren't mates Jorden; I am mateless." Calla says as soon as we sit down. I look over to Jorden to watch his facial expression. Unlike, Cole, Jorden was never good at masking his emotions and both of his eyebrows are raised in shock. I scoot closer to him and squeeze his hand, offering my comfort. Taking a deep breath, Calla continues.

"I was 16 and I was so insecure. I wanted nothing more than male attention from everybody. Who better than the Beta himself? Dalton was already taken and I've always had my eye on Quinton." She pauses to run her hand through her hair, "I was able to seduce him." "Quinton, he was eager to agree, didn't believe his mate was out there. His best friend already had a mate and a child on the way. Therefore, we became an item. But, it was nothing more than sex." Calla pauses and I can see a troubled look cross her eyes.
