POV: Dani
My heart drops at Ben's words. Something is wrong with my baby. No, there can't be. Grasping Jorden's hand, I pull him to me seeking comfort. "Jorden," my voice cracks as tears leak from my eyes. "Tell me my baby will be ok!" Tears fall from the brunette's eyes as he opens his mouth trying to respond to me, but knowing he can't. Before he is able to speak comforting words, nurses pile into the room and begin wheeling my bed out of the door and down the hallways; no doubt towards the room my procedure will take place in.
"Jorden!" I call as white hot terror begins to wash through me. I grip the bars of the bed tightly and it begins to get difficult to breath and my heartbeat steadily increases. "I'm right here baby," he responds from somewhere behind me. "But, you need to calm down. Can you do that for me Dani? Can you take a deep breath and calm down?" I am snapped into a flashback at his words. Back to a time when panic was a common feeling for me to feel. Back to when the blonde haired Alpha who consumes my heart used to be the only one to who was able to calm me down and bring me out of my thoughts. Just the thought of Cole has my worries and fears fading away until I am calm, just as Jorden asked me to be.
Glancing to my right, I see Jorden there dressing in scrubs so he can be present for the birth. Two nurses are setting up the sheet to block my view of the operation while the other one is set with the task of numbing my body for the C-Section. Ben comes in not long after dressed for the procedure with the necessary tools on a wheeled cart by his side. "Let's begin." He instructs the nurses before turning to me. "Tell me Luna can you feel this pinch?" "No." I respond. Ben nods, before disappearing from my vision.
Jorden grasps my hand as the sounds of the operation echo throughout the room. The anticipation is cut short, as the sound of a piercing baby cry overtakes all other sounds in the room. I too begin to cry at the sound of it. "Come cut the umbilical cord Alpha." One of the nurses lures Jorden away from my side. Standing with his own eyes glistening, Jorden does as instructed.
"It's a boy." he calls from somewhere behind the sheet. My heart clenches and more tears leak from the corners of my eyes. "Can I see him?" I call straining my head to see around the sheet. "Be calm Luna." A nurse calls. "Dr. Rodgers is stitching you up and your son is being cleaned and then he is all yours I promise."
The moment is surreal when Jorden comes around the corner carrying my son in his arms. "Here Dani." He smiles, not even bothering to ripe away his tears. Freeing my arms, I graciously accept my baby when Jorden lays him down on my chest. He has temporary blue eyes as all babies do; as well as, the beginnings of a soft tuft of blonde hair. I release an audible cry as I hold my son; my son who already is showing signs of looking like his father.
His voice deep with emotion, Jorden shifts my attention to him when he asks for the baby's name. Smiling I answer; "Faolan, Faolan Colten Richards." Jorden's own smile erupts and my heart feels complete as I clutch my son tighter to my chest, Jorden kneeling only a few inches away from my side. "That's a beautiful name Dani." Jorden smiles before wrapping both his arms around me, holding both Faolan and I close to him.
We are brought out of our peace when we hear screeching from behind the hospital room door. Jorden sighs lightly kissing my forehead. "It's Rowan." He mumbles. I roll my eyes and shift so I am sitting up more against the bed's pillows, the signs of the operation long gone as Ben and the nurses speedily cleaned it all up. "Let her come in." Heading my command, Jorden removes his arms from around us and moves towards the door to allow access for my bumbling blonde best friend.
"Alpha, may I have permission to speak frankly?" She asks the moment Jorden opens the door. He chuckles, but grants his permission to Rowan nonetheless. The blonde smiles before speaking again, "Please step aside you are blocking my view of the baby." Huffing, Rowan voices her annoyance. Jorden lets loose a full belly laugh before stepping to the side allowing both Rowan and I to see each other.
"Oh my Goddess!" Rowan gushes before skipping over to my side to continue cooing at my baby. "Ben told me it was a boy," she continues to smile down at Faolen's closed eyes and parted lips. "What's his name?" She asks in awe. "Faolan Colton Richards." Rowan gasps at my statement causing me to tear up. She glances up at me her own set of tears glistening in her eyes. "He has his hair." She whispers in my ear quietly to not offend Jorden. "I know" I whisper back while nodding letting more tears fall freely down my face.
"Come here Dani." Rowan smiles comfortingly, pulling me into her arms after handing Faolan to Jorden. Rubbing my back soothingly, Rowan begins to whisper in my ear once again. "It's ok to be sad Dani; and it is very ok to miss him. Just let it all out; you don't need to be the strong Luna for me." Her words unleash the floodgates and I cry for the loss of Cole. I release all of my pent up emotions in my tears and mourn the fact that my son will not grow up knowing his biological father. I cry, because the love of my life wanted nothing more than to be a father and twice now the opportunity has been ripped away from him. The moment is ruined when the door opens revealing one of the delivery nurses. She smiles understandingly at me as I wipe away my tears.
"Luna, I was just coming in to show you how to properly nurse the little one." She walks to my side as Jorden hands me back Faolan. Pulling down the top of the hospital gown she walks me through the process before helping me to make sure Faolan is latched on correctly and is receiving proper nutrients.
"Thank you." I whisper as she finishes showing me how to burp the baby. "No problem Luna," she responds. "You and the young Alpha will be released in a few days once you have healed a bit more." "Thank you Laura." Jorden nods his appreciation as Laura exits towards the door. She nods back showing her respect before leaving us alone in silence.
Rowan looks down at her watch before sighing. "I need to head home Dani. It's almost time for Rosemary's feeding." "I love you and good luck!" She calls from halfway down the hallway. Shaking my head at her antics, I settle my gaze back on Jorden. He smiles at me awkwardly before rubbing the back of his neck.
"Come here Jorden," I smile at him as he looks up at me. "Come properly meet your son."
Question of the day: What's your opinion on Jorden being the baby's father?
