Contracts

This is a book about my favourite team Arsenal in the 2000-2005 era for Arsenal in this book my youth player is Andrew Chambers

I sat in the dressing room with 5 other lads we all knew why we were here to get a contract... It had been 5 years since i joined the academy and now when I am 18 there could be contract for the professional contract.
The red wooden door creaked open and in walked Arsenal captain Henry and manager Arsene Wengner. He sat down at the table in the middle of the room beside the tactics board, Wengner had a bundle of papers under his arm that where most likely our squad reports and possibly the contracts.
My mind flashed back to the first time I sat here I was 16 and that was for a contract for the youth team... I came in from the under 15's team after a 2-1 win over PSV in the champions league
I had received a cross from Niles in the 7th minute and volleyed it into the top left hand corner. Minutes later it went 1-1 when Markos had struck a shot from the 18 yard line and it had found its way round Daniels into the bottom left hand corner but in the final minute of the game Niles was fouled as he pushed inside the defence, we received a free kick at 35 yards out from goal, my original plan was to cross it in for some off the taller players in our lines but instead I had a shot, I ran up to the ball and smashed it from the spot, I thought it was going over but it dipped under the bar just over the PSG goalkeeper Parish. The stands erupted into cheers and booing for all that was stadium it was amazing lying on the beautifully green grass arms outstretched. A minute later the whistle blew and as I walked to the dressing room i was stopped by the coach who handed me am envelop I walked into the dressing room and opened the letter in it was a cheque for 75 pounds for the match and a contract for the youth team, I remember signing it and running to the coaches office to give it to him.

Wengner starts to speak to us.
"So you're all here for a contract but I only have 2 here..."
