Part3 The Descendant
"Catalina." she heard him whispered as she felt his cold hand caressed her curly hair. She wanted to open her eyes but she can't. It was as if she was awake and at the same time dreaming. "Catalina." she heard him again.
Nettie let out a soft moan. His voice sounded so musical that she wanted to drift into a peaceful sleep. She felt her eyelids grew heavier until she completely lost her senses.
Nettie found herself in the middle of the grand staircase. She looked around and admired the well lighted hall. Everything speaks of elegance and wealth from the wall and furnitures down to the finer details. She recognized that it was the hotel too many years ago.
Suddenly, a soft music filled the air. She brought her eyes from the source and found a man sitting behind a girl who was playing the grand piano. He was looking at her admiringly as she stroke the piano keys. Nettie drew herself nearer and stop few meters away from them.
She got a full view of Damian and her. She blinked her eyes severally and can't believe what she just saw. She was sure that she's not her but she could clearly see the resemblance. Who was she?
"My dear Catalina, please sing for me." she heard him plead as he closed his eyes. After a while, her angelic voice accompanied the music. Damian rested his head on her shoulder as she continued to play. Nettie could feel the affection between them and felt a little envy. At her age of 23, no one showed such compassion with her the way Damian did to her.
She look closely at Catalina and tried to remember where she had seen her before. She studied her intently. She looked at her shoulder length hair then to hers. They were both brown and curly. She could still remember that her mama said once that among the family, only her and her great great grandmother got such hair. She looked at her long eyelashes and smiled. She was an image of calm and soft mannered lady. There's a resemblance between her and Catalina but that was minor. She was so beautiful beyond comparable to her.
She ended the song and smiled at Damian who still had his eyes closed. "Damian."she called lovingly. "I'll be leaving today and be back the day after tomorrow. Papa wanted me to come with him."she continued with sadness on her voice.
Upon hearing her, Damian opened his eyes and uttered. "But to where?" his voice shown a slight panic. "You're Papa aren't taking you away, right?" He held her hands as if he won't ever let her go. "You'll still come back, Catalina?" he asked in a plea. "Promise me you'll get back. I'll be waiting for you, my dear."
Catalina gave him a smile which did not reach her eyes and answered. "I will Damian. I promise, I will."
Nettie saw Damian took something from his pocket and showed it to Catalina. It was a chained necklace with a heart shaped pendant . Nettie looked at the pendant with so much confusion. She unconsciously touched the one she was wearing as she watched him put the necklace to her neck. Her attention was focused on the pendant. In the middle of it was a black round stone which was too similar with what she was wearing.
"No!" she shook her head. She had the family heirloom for being the youngest daughter and she remembered that her mother's name Cathlyn was named after her great great grand mother. Could it be Catalina was her Lola?
Nettie took off the necklace and closed her eyes. She traveled back to their times. Damian showed her their vows thinking she was Catalina. He tried to let her remember what they'd promised. When she arrived , he thought she came back for him. What if he won't let her go? Will she ever wake up again?
"No,!" she panicked. "I'm not her!" she shouted still her eyes closed. She was starting to be scared of what was happening to her. "I'm not Catalina! Please let me go back." she pleaded and started crying. "I'm not her! I'm Nettie! I'm Nettie! I'm Not Catalina!" she repeated hysterically.
"Damian!" she heard a feminine voice calling his name.
Nettie opened her eyes and wiped the tears on her cheeks with her bare hands. Blinking her eyes, she tried to see who she was.
A lady with a long brown curly hair hurriedly ran towards Damian. She got the sweetest smile she had ever seen but her eyes are full of tears. She was wearing the necklace similar to hers swaying slightly as she ran towards him.
Damian welcomed her with open arms. His gray eyes were twinkling with so much emotions as he waited for her.
It was the real Catalina, she figured out when she saw them embraced each other. They were an image of a long lost love who just have reunited.
Nettie looked at them with tears on her eyes, not for fear but for happiness. After awhile, Damian and Catalina both looked back at her knowingly.
Nettie wanted to ask about the necklace but she stopped herself. What will she say?
But as if she read her mind, Catalina touched her own necklace and mouthed "Keep it" to her. She looked at Damian who was staring lovingly at Catalina and smiled. He finally have her,at last, Nettie thought.
"Thank you for bringing her home." he heard him say before they vanished into the thin air.
Finale
Nettie felt something cold on her forehead. She moved her head a little but still did not open her eyes. Then she heard some one said. "Finally, she's awake." His voice sounded relieve.
She recognized him even if she haven't seen him yet. It was the hotel crew.
Slowly, she tried to meet the light blinding her eyes. She was welcomed by the worried face of the hotel crew and a middle aged man with stethoscope on his neck.
"What's the date today?" she asked eagerly.
They both looked at each other then looked back at her. "November first, year 2012." the doctor answered, confused.
She smiled at them as she touches her necklace.
"I'm fine, now." she uttered. "I'm finally, back."

Author's Note:
This is just a product of my wild imagination. Nothing's really creepy that happened when I went to Zamboanga for a business trip but it's the hotel room that made my stay a bit weird.
I apologize for a lot of grammatical errors. I'm writing in english not because I'm good at it. It's just that I want to learn more and practice my writing skills in other language. Hope you could leave a comment.
Thank you so much for the time:)
