Packing up barely even took up five minutes of my time, so I spent the rest watching the sunrise from the top of the mountain. Alex is up tending to their sheep, her skin bathed in golden light, and Steve is nowhere to be found.
The sunrise here is beautiful, but not as beautiful as the sunrise at home. Come to think of it, I barely even see the sun rise back home. I only see it on holidays whenever we go to our province to visit our other family members, or on vacation where we go on beaches to relax. At least here, there aren't any huge buildings to obstruct the view.
A few minutes passed and Steve appeared. Immediately, his eyes locked with mine, sending me a curt nod. I nodded back and got up, and ran down to meet them. Alex smiled once she caught sight of me, pausing her shearing. "Congrats, you did it," I whispered once I was in front of her. She's wearing her regular Alex clothing, but she looks flustered an red. "Sorry I couldn't see you do the challenge, I was running a fever."
I stared at her a while longer. She does look exhausted! I didn't notice that earlier because of the golden glow. "A fever? You can get fevers here?"
"Of course," she said, turning back to her sheep. "We are still human, after all, no matter how long we've been stuck in here."
"The worst part about that is that the potions don't do much for fevers and colds." Steve approached us, lazily petting one of their cows. I turned to him. "So make sure you don't catch one."
I grinned. "Worried for me?"
He looked at me, a bitter look on his face. "No. I'm sure Alex here is going force me to babysit you while you're sick."
Alex laughed, still shearing. "Don't mind him, Evangeline. He's good at taking care of—"
Steve buried his face in his hands. "I can't even bare to look at you two anymore, you two are disgusting."
"Oh, come on, Steve. Stop denying it."
Steve peeked from in between his fingers. "Keep going and I'll stop accompanying you to the Nether."
Alex shrugged. "You love the Nether."
I didn't quite get what all that was about, but they seem to be very comfortable with each other. Also, that's one thing I can tease Steve about, too. Are they a couple? They seem to be, and since they don't exactly look alike, I don't think they're related to each other. Not sure though, I'll have to hear it from them.
In the end, Alex was the one who gave me a house tour. On the first floor, there's the living room in the middle, a kitchen to the left, and a storage, crafting, and smelting room to the right. When we went up the stairs, it leads to this long hallway with rooms facing each other, from left to right. There's six rooms in total, three doors on each side.
"Since there were so many people coming in from outside in the past, we thought that we might have some. . . Additions to our little family." Alex said, walking me through the hallway. "The last two rooms are mine and Steve's. You can choose from the next two doors which one yours will be. We used up the fifth and sixth rooms just because in the end, they weren't worthy of being with us, and we sort of gave up on the fact that we'd have someone else here."
I nodded. I'll have to explore more later, then. Alex and Steve's doors are labeled, so I opened the door next to Alex's. The room is just right for one person, and there's plenty of place for stuff and decorating, too. It's pretty empty, the theme is still entirely black and white.
Alex entered the room a little while after and leaned on the he wall. "The walls are two blocks thick, as you may have already observed. You can change the interior design however you like, just don't touch the exterior, okay?"
