Brooke's POV
"So, how does it feel being 16?", Kelsey smiled, revealing her newly straightened teeth. She had just gotten her braces off last week and looked absolutely gorgeous. Her blonde hair was curled, framing her face perfectly.
She was also a major booknerd, as were all the people in my small group of friends. Her big brown eyes stared at me intently, awaiting my response.
"Guess you'll find out soon enough." I smirked.
She smiled. "So who's the cute new guy across the street?"
I shrugged. "Dunno. Why, you like him?"
"I've got my mind set on someone else." she said. I followed her gaze to Adam, who was engaged in a conversation with Matt about a book, and thankfully didn't notice Kelsey ogling over him.
I rolled my eyes. Kelsey had had a crush on Adam for as long as I've known her. And from what I gather, the feeling is mutual. But, of course, neither of them will share they're feelings with one another, and I've been forbidden to play matchmaker, due to the failed attempt last time... I'd rather not talk about it.
"So, anyone wanna tell me what were going to be doing at the mall, since, apparently it isn't shopping?" I asked.
"Nope." Adam answered. I ruffled his blonde hair, knowing it would annoy him. We always joked he loved his hair more than he did his mom.
"Hey! not the hair!" he complained, fixing up his hair. I swear, him and Kelsey would make the cutest couple with the matching blonde hair and brown eyes. Their babies would be gorgeous.
Adam handed me a small envelope. "Happy birthday, it's from me and Kelsey."
I opened the envelope, and found a Barnes & Noble gift card inside. I thanked them, then turned to Matt.
He was the only one of our group with a license, since he was a year older than us all.
"So, will you tell me what we're doing at the mall?" I asked.
"Nope. Sorry, babe but I'm bound to the same secrecy Adam is." He answered.
"Pleaaaaseeee?" I whined. He shook his head. "Not even for a kiss?" I queried.
"Tempting, but I'm going to have to turn it down."
I stuck my tongue out at him, as he pulled over in front of the mall.
"We're here!" Adam called.
"And I still don't know why" I chirped.
Kelsey reached into the trunk and pulled out a few t-shirts, and a couple sheets of paper.
"We are having a scavenger hunt in honor of your birthday." Adam told me, finally.
I smiled. "That's so fun! but what's with the t-shirts?" I asked.
"Why, for our teams of course." Kelsey said, as she threw me a tee.
I unfolded it, and broke out in a wide grin when I saw the design on it.
It was green, and read "slytherin", along with the slytherin logo.
I turned to kelsey, and saw she was holding a slytherin shirt as well, while the boys were wearing griffyndor shirts.
"Boys vs. girls, griffindor vs. slytherin." Said Matt, handing out the paper with the things we needed to find or do around the mall.
When he handed me mine, I looked him up and down, then whispered in his ear, "ten points to griffindor." He smiled, and in turn whispered in my ear, "hey babe, mind if I slytherin?"
