I stood outside, my black hair whipping in my face from the wind, the sun high in the sky. My "brothers" were outside, they aren't really my brothers. It's just what the prophecy says we are, it also says we're the downfall of the demons. All of our auras are gold, that makes us connected very deeply. More than any usual brothers and sisters are, it's not really something anyone can explain easily. It's like if one of us died, we would feel a piece of us missing, but only much worse.
Sebastian was passing a ball to Archie, Archie seemed to be enjoying himself, but Sebastian looked like he'd rather be reading. The only thing that kept him outside was Eli who he was talking to. Eli stood next to Sebastian, the dark flecks in his eyes flashing, the whiteness contrasted with Sebastian's darker color a lot. Eli looked at me and gave me a small smile, or tried to. He was a demon, and demons had a really hard time showing emotion, mostly because they were brutally beaten if they did. Not too far away from them was Josiah and Thaddeus wrestling in the sand, it looked like Josiah was winning, but Thaddeus was about to have him down in a second because he always left his right leg open. It happened quickly and swiftly, I could hear Josiah's groan from being beaten. Silas chuckled at the sight of Josiah losing again. He stood right next to me and he had his hand against the small of my back, "When do you think he'll learn?"
"Have you met Josiah?" I laugh.
He nods in agreement, his eyes twinkling with laughter, "You got me there."
He sniffs the air as he usually does, "The demons are getting closer." The perks of being a werewolf, I couldn't smell them till they were about 5 minutes away, mostly because I didn't fully use all the "perks" of being a demon hunter.
"How do they keep finding us?" I ask exasperated."I don't know, but it's ok we'll go see Asdell again," he says trying to brighten the mood. He succeeds a little, Asdell was a warlock that we knew. He lived in a house we all built together, in it with him lived Coraggiosa my other family. They were misfits or orphans with nowhere else to go, they were mermaids, satyrs, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, demon hunters and more.
He sniffs the air again, "I can't tell how long they-"
"Eli!" I call him over. Sebastian looks at me with mock loathing for pulling his brother away from him, "It'll only be a second!" I assure him.
Eli nods and walks over to us, his face expressionless, "They're 20 minutes away. Maybe less." He said, after we asked him.
His voice was even, emotionless. It reminded me of my three sisters, who couldn't be bothered by emotion. Most of all Nova, she had gotten better, or so I heard, but she was still bloodthirsty."Thank you, please go tell the others to pack," I murmur.
He nods trying to smile but it ends in a grimace and he walks away. "I wish we didn't have to go."
Silas grabbed my hand and rubbed it, "We won't have to go this much longer. We have contacts of demon hunters, and a few dragons on our side, and Coraggiosa."
"I know, I just hate running."
He smiles and says jokingly, "You used to be so eager to."
"That was before I got the people who will fight and you guys."
He nods, "Well trust me, we won't be running for much longer."
I smile and he kisses me quickly before going inside. To be safe everyone geared up just in case they came sooner than we were expecting them to.
"I wish we didn't have to leave," Archie says, looking around when we all came downstairs with our bags.
"Me too," I say grimly.
"Why don't we just stay and fight?" Thaddeus says.
"Because they'll send more after," Eli says.
