MJ's POV

I was standing at the bottom of the hill as the sun began to fall below the horizon, wondering why Peter sent me this location. It was an empty plot of strawberry fields. I noticed a pine tree standing at the top of this hill. It was the only thing in the area that caught my attention. I stared at it. For a moment, it looked normal, but as soon as I blinked, I realized there was something curled up around the tree. Was it a dragon?  I thought I might be seeing things. Didn't take my gaze away from the tree. The creature seemed to flash in and out of existence, almost as if it wasn't sure whether I was supposed to see it or not. After a few seconds of constant staring, it stayed, I could see it clearly. I was sure that the dragon-like creature I was seeing was not a figment of my imagination. I blinked, hoping that it wouldn't cause the creature to disappear again. When my eyes fluttered open, I could still see it. I started to walk closer. While doing so, I finally broke my gaze away from the tree, and what I saw on the other side of the hill, was definitely not strawberry fields.

I walked farther up the hill, and straight to the building which caught my eye. A large, blue farm style house with a small porch in the front. I walked up the steps on the porch and knocked on the door. A middle-aged man in a Hawaiian shirt answered the door with an annoyed expression.

"Who are you?" He said with a sigh.

"Um, my name is MJ, and I have no idea where I am. Could you help me, I'm looking for someone named Peter."

"Ugh, follow me." He said while walking out the door. "Everyone is at the campfire, I'll take you there."

"Ok, but could you explain to me where I am and what this place is."

"Come on, I've had enough of this bs today. Someone else can tell you when we get there."

We walked for a moment in silence, but I could hear a crowd talking and maybe even some cheering coming from a nearby gathering of people. I was guessing that's where this man was taking me.

We stopped at the edge of the group. "Tell me your name again."

"It's MJ."

I heard someone begin to say something, but he was interrupted by the man standing next to me.  Everyone turned to look at us. "Wait, we have one more. This is MJ." He said in a completely monotone voice. Before anyone else could say anything, the man walked away.

I looked at all the faces staring at me. I didn't really like the attention. I looked through the crowd, hoping to see a specific familiar face. Then I noticed. Sitting down on my far right, with a small group of teens, was Peter. As soon as we made eye contact, he motioned for me to join him. I smiled faintly to the crowd and walked towards the one person, in the sea of strangers, that I knew.

I sat down in a small space that was left empty next to him. "Peter! I'm so happy that you're ok." I smiled. A kind yet commanding voice began to talk from the middle of the group, but I tuned it out.

"I'm glad that you're ok too," Peter told me, adding a quick kiss on my lips. I smiled, slightly blushing, although I tried to hide it.

"Peter, you know her?" asked a teen with dark brown hair and sea-green eyes. "I mean, obviously you do, but how?"

"Can you explain what's going on, cause I have no clue." I looked at Peter

"Hey, Percy, do you think the two of us can slip away for a moment, we kind of need it."

"Sure, but we're coming too." A girl with long blonde hair and gray eyes responded."

Peter grabbed my hand and walked me out of the crowd, the boy who I assumed was Percy and the other girl followed. We didn't go far, but just enough so that the sound of the group beginning to sing wasn't too loud. We all sat down at the top of the hill that I entered the area from.

"Peter, who is she?" The blonde girl asked.

"Percy, Annabeth, this is my girlfriend, MJ," Peter expressed, with a hint of nervousness.

"Hey," I gave a simple wave and small smile. "Also, where am I?"

"What is she doing here. Did you tell her to come?" Annabeth asked quietly and angrily. "It was not your place to bring her here."

"I'm sorry, but she was in danger and the only thing I could--" Peter was cut off.

"You know what," Percy interrupted, "I think it's ok." He pointed above my head. I looked up. Above my head, a glowing symbol appeared, though from underneath I couldn't tell what it was a symbol of.

"Peter, what's going on? What is that?" I asked bluntly, pointing at the picture floating above me."

"I have no idea what that is," Peter told me. He turned to his new friends longingly, hoping for an answer. "Why is there a glowing shoe above my girlfriend's head."

"That's the symbol of Hermes. You're being claimed!" Percy said, surprised by the words coming out of his own mouth.

"Being claimed? What does that even mean? Is no one going to explain anything to me? I still haven't been told a single thing about what is going on." The light from above my head faded, leaving us, once again, in near darkness.

"Wait, you don't know anything? Mr. D didn't explain anything to you."

"Who's Mr. D. Was he that guy in the Hawaiian shirt, because he didn't tell me anything. I literally got hear like five minutes ago."

"Ok, I guess we'll have to explain, but first, do you know who your father is?" Annabeth asked.

"Um, that's a pretty sensitive topic for me. I don't like talking about it. I don't understand why you would need to know that." My voice started to break. Ever since I was a child, I built walls around me and tried to stay out of social situations. My family life has never been something I could talk about. Just thinking about it made my wall start to crumble. Peter noticed the shift in my voice and grabbed my hand. That made me feel better.

"Could you just tell us if you know him, please?" Percy asked again.

I didn't say much, but I decided to answer. I sighed and Peter squeezed my hand. "He left. I don't know anything else. At a young age, he left, and I don't ever remember meeting him."

"We know who your father is," Annabeth told me, straight-faced.

"How could you-?" I didn't finish. I just looked down at the hand Peter was holding.

"MJ," Annabeth continued. I looked back up at her. "Your father is the Greek God Hermes."

"My father is who?" "Her father is who?" Peter and I exclaimed simultaneously.

"She's a half-blood?" Peter asked surprised.

"It does explain how she got into camp. And that symbol, it was Hermes's way of telling her that she's her daughter. It's the most common way of being claimed." Annabeth explained, but I still didn't understand anything that was going on.

"OK, I told you about my dad, now can you tell me what you mean about everything else. Gods, Half-bloods, being claimed, I don't understand a word you said.

That's when they explained everything to me.

Hi everyone. I just want to say thank you so much for reading my story. I really hope you're enjoying it. My next post will be for the beginning of a new story, so the updates for this one might slow down a little, but don't worry, I'm still gonna work on it. Recently, I 've had so many ideas for new fanfictions, and at this point, I can't hold it in anymore. The new story will be for an entirely different fandom, so some of the people who like this story might like it, but if that is the case, I hope you're able to wait for the next chapter of "Different Kinds of Heroes," cause the introductions are finally done, and some new threats are about to arise. Can't wait for ya'll to see what's coming.
