A slim, pale brunette girl slipped on her black cloak over her tri-colored shirt and baggy black basketball shorts, getting prepared for her departure. This simple outfit was the best she could get. She had made sure to be extra good so that she could get nicer clothing than usual. She put on her large red tennis shoes and turned to her small bed, where her black backpack and few belongings laid. She hurriedly stuffed in some food scraps, two bottles of water, a thin blanket, a pair of gloves, and even some money. Pickpocketing the foolish newbie surgeons that were dumb enough to keep their wallets and phones in their lab coats was the girl's favorite hobby.

The young girl slowly retreated to a small corner of the room to pick up her most prized possession, her antique roller skates. It was the only thing she owned that was worth any real money, and she loved it to bits. She carefully placed it in her bag and then closed it, carefully slinging the pack onto her back.

Taking a small, silver key out of her pocket, she hurried to her cell door, struggling to open it but eventually busting it open. She took a peek out the door and upon seeing nobody, she dashed to her hideout, taking multiple twists and turns throughout the large building. She made sure that nobody saw her, and she avoided all security cameras, as she knew their locations by heart. After a few minutes, she finally arrived at a crawl-space under the stairs, and she quickly dashed in and closed the door behind her.

Breathe in, breathe out. The girl was getting thrilled with her plan, and she could barely keep her breathing under control. The image of the panicked scientists' faces' made her eyes sparkle, and her hands quickly got to work. Her frail fingers flew into a frenzy, knowing exactly what to do. She grabbed the gallons of gasoline from the corner and grabbed the lighter and box of matches from her pocket, making sure everything she was doing was silent. They'd notice she was gone any minute. Supper break was only so long. The girl tore up a few floorboards and tossed them in the middle where other papers and wood was scattered in a messy pile, she'd hope it would spread faster to the lower levels this way. The ceiling was relatively high for a crawl-space, the girl could comfortably stand at the highest point.

After taking a few boards from the stairs above her, she carefully poured the gasoline onto the pile, making sure it was evenly spread in the right places. She lit a dry piece of wood with the lighter, and she tried her best to gently place it in the middle of the large pile.

Almost immediately, the entire pile burst into curling orange flames, and it nearly reached the top. The pale girl tended to the flames until it reached the stairs above, and she quickly tossed the boxes of matches and lighter into the fire, hoping that the melting metal would attract the scientists'. She wanted as many people to burn as possible. Removing the door from its hinges and tossing it away, she bolted from under the stairs and ran to the nearest exit, which was three floors below her. She wanted to start the fire on a relatively low floor so that 1) she could escape easier, 2) nobody from the higher floors could get out, and 3) so that all of the higher floors would collapse.

The first floor was where the girl truly did not care if anybody saw her or not. There was already an announcement blaring about the large fire on the fourth floor, and she could hear the distant screams from above her. Trying to put the fire out would be impossible, as she had already tampered with the fire extinguishers. Even if she had accidentally forgotten one or two of them, by the time somebody sprayed the fire, it would have already enveloped most of the third, fourth, and fifth floor.

She giddily grinned as she looked around, imagining the building burnt to the ground, the smell of blood filling the air. Several people in white lab coats pointed at her and yelled, but they didn't know she was responsible for the fire. She was simply a test subject that wasn't in her cage. Within four minutes, she was out of the building and sprinting through the large parking lot, making a beeline for anywhere but there. Outside, the sun had nearly set, and there was nowhere to go but the highway into the city. She couldn't run that far overnight, she'd have to stop and rest along the way. Which she was fine with, there were woods on either side of the road for cover.

Before disappearing into the woods, she looked back at the only place she knew for most of her life. The flames were elegantly dancing in the dark, enveloping the building in a flashing orange hue. She imagined the pained screams as the surgeons and researchers all burned, rolling around on the floor like a whimpering puppy. The thought brought a crooked smile upon her face, and her vision went red.

She quietly laughed and whispered one last taunt before she turned and ran into the woods, eager for the freedom she longed for every aching day.

"I hope you enjoy burning in the hell you've created."
