"Melanie, just eat before you leave I'll feel so much better." My mom whines, lately she's been trying to stuff me full of food as if it will last me throughout my years of college. Not that I blame her for being worried, it's just... I've already gained like 5 pounds just from eating her food.

"Rita! Leave the poor girl alone." My grandma's raspy voice calls out from the living room. I can hear her scuffling her feet and she soon shuffles into the living room wearing nothing but a robe and some slippers.

"Grandma! Get some clothes on please!" I shield my eyes from her. She cackles and says some nonsense before she shuffles back into the living room. Crazy old lady. My mom turns back to me, her eyes a look of shock from seeing my grandma's somewhat almost nude body. To be honest that was pretty disgusting.

"Well... Melanie." My mom sniffles. Her brown eyes streaming with tears.

"Mom. Please don't cry." I say, my voice suddenly becoming hoarse. I couldn't wait to get out of here, but I would still miss them so much. My mom reached forward and tucked a stray strand of curly brown hair behind my ear.

"Just be safe. Alright?" It was only then that I noticed the gray streaks of hair in her mop of brown hair.

"Mom, when have I ever not been?"

"Natalie, you just skipped the exit!" I yell out as my friend Natalie zooms past the exit that leads to where I'll be living for the next couple of years.

"I'm sorry, Mel. Some people don't have your sense of direction!" She calls out stressfully, pushing her red hair behind her ears. Lately she's been so stressed, she was so nervous about leaving home and I don't blame her. It was a big change for me too.

"Here pull over here we'll ask these people for directions.." I try to persuade her.

"No! I can find it myself." Have you ever heard of the rumor of red heads being super stubborn? Because if you have that was Natalie. Her fiery nature would leave you scaled in the hot coals of the fire, and only she could bring you the salvation of water. She was a short, athletically thin and adorable little girl on the outside, but when you got to know her she could snap you in half at any second. It was just the type of girl she was. And I loved her for it.

"Aha! I found it Mel!" Natalie cheers happily as she pulls up to an apartment building. The bricks are mismatched and it has that sort of cosy feel of a New York apartment. Natalie pulls the car over to the curb and turns off the engine.

"Do you need help carrying up stuff?" She asks me, her blue eyes swimming with mixed emotions, stress, worry and nervousness. She decided to live in the student dorms, while I on the other hand probably couldn't study for long in there at all.

"I'll be fine, I only have like one box anyways." I smile at her and she relaxes. True, I just didn't want to cause more stress for her. She was already running late. I get out of her blue jeep and get my bag and box out of the back. As I start to walk towards the building I wave at her and she returns it, and eventually drives off. I go into the building, climb up the stairs until I get to the designated room. 5B. I let myself in with the key that had been assigned to me and plop down my stuff on the counter. Letting the keys clink against the granite. I walk around until I find the bedrooms, one of them with some sheets already on it, my room mate must have already stopped by. I sit down on my own bed, it already is so quiet and I love it!

"Ahhhh." I sigh, letting air flow into my lungs. I get up and head towards the bathroom, I haven't taken a shower since yesterday, talk about nasty. I let the shampoo cleanse through my frizzy and curly hair. When I'm finished with the shower I wrap a single towel around my body and go out to fetch my clothes. But as soon as I open the door, standing there in front of me is a tall, handsome and needless to say.

Guy!
