When Daniel's mother picked him up he felt relieved. He already started relaxing at the thought of watching a movie while covering up with one of his fuzzy blankets. 'Yeah' he thought, 'that sounds really nice right now.' Daniel was enjoying the silence of the car ride, that is until his mother broke said silence.
"Are you feeling okay Daniel? It's not like you to ask me to pick you up. What's wrong?"
"I'm just ... stressed is all, I think I just needed a break." Daniel's mother nodded, she understood that all too well. She changed the radio station to the 70's Hits station. She knew it would cheer Daniel up, he loved this station, way too much. Daniel smiled up at his mother, she knew just how to cheer him up.
When they pulled into their driveway Danny immediately ran up to his room. It was neat, organized, it was his paradise. He could feel some of his stress melt away already. He changed his clothes into something more comfortable, which included fuzzy socks, his favorite crewneck, and some soft pajama pants. Daniel grabbed a blanket and curled up on his 'cuddle chair', he called the chair that because he always, ALWAYS cuddles a stuffed animal while sitting in his chair. Today is no different.

With his phone shut off, his favorite movie playing on the tv, and all the blankets in his room piled on top of him, Daniel finally felt relaxed enough to reflect on what happened to.
In actuality it's been happening for a while now, but Daniel only realized it recently. He knew what this feeling was, he truly did.
He just didn't know how to deal with it.
He liked someone. HIM. Daniel freaking Morales liked someone, and that fact freaked him out.
'I can barely pick an outfit out for the day how do I expect to even pursue a relationship!'
He felt it. Daniel could feel the bubbling spike in uneasiness. His hands were clammy, and he felt faint.
Daniel quickly ran out of his room, to the kitchen where his mom usually was. Usually. He couldn't find her. He searched the livingroom, dining room, bedroom, even the bathroom and Daniel couldn't find his mom.
Now the panic set in. He needed his mom in the moment. He couldn't be alone. Daniel wanted the advice and comfort his mom brought to him.
'Oh no oh no oh no nononono. Stop panicking! Stop panicking! Just breathe it's okay. You're only having a existential crisis over a stupid crush is all, no need to worry.'
Daniel curled into a ball on the couch, sniffling, as he waited for his mom to return from wherever she went to.

When Daniel's mom returned from the store her sixth sense, aka her mother's sense as she called it, started going off. Walking in the house she was greeted with her son curled in on himself. She paused and quietly walked over to Danny.
"Danny? Is it alright if I touch you?" She waited quietly until Daniel nodded his head. carefully she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and pulled him close to her.
"Wanna talk about it love?"
When Daniel nodded, she pulled away just a little bit silently asking him to look at her. When he did, Daniel's mother smiled. Danny had always been sensitive so she knew what he needed exactly at this moment.
"How about I get you some Chips Ahoy then we can talk? Deal?" Danny chuckled and nodded his head.
"Yeah, that sounds good."
Danny shuffled in his spot, and repositioned himself as his mom got him some cookies. When she returned she handed him the whole tray, knowing he would most likely down the plate in minutes.
"So love, what's bothering you?" She had opened up a space for Danny to talk, and allowed him to think, and mull over his thoughts for a moment.
"Mom," he began. "How do you know if you like someone?" Daniel's mother smiled. So this is what it was about. Danny never really showed any interest in anyone before, and as he approached his teens, Daniel's mother honestly thought he was asexual.
"Well, liking someone is complicated sweetheart. How do you feel when you're around this one person?"
When she saw Daniel starting to bite his nails, she carefully placed her hands on his knees. She smiled, and brought her hands up to removes the fingers from his mouth.
"I know this is new to you love, but you can search through your thought aloud with me. Believe it or not I know a thing or two about liking someone."
He sighed, "I don't know mom.."
"What about me knowing about liking someone? Because I do." Daniel laughed and shook his head.
"I feel nervous? I dunno. My chest tightens, and I can't focus whenever they're in the room. Whenever they smile I feel like I'm having an asthma attack."
Daniel's mom smirked. "Sounds like, to me, that you like this person." Then her face got serious.
"However," she began. "Are this feelings situational? Are you making up scenarios in order to feed a fantasy? If so then you need to forget about them."
Daniel thought for a moment, recalling every encounter with this person.
"No, the way they talk, their mannerisms, how they respond to others. That's what I first noticed, what first made me like them."
"I understand. Danny, I'm giving you my official diagnosis." She paused.
"You my dear boy, have a massive crush. You definitely like this person."
Daniel blushed, he knew he did, finally saying it aloud made everything so much more real. A weight was lifted off his shoulders, a weight he didn't even know he had.
"Just one more question Danny."
"Yeah?"
"Who is this person?"
"It's a secret!"
