"Explain myself?" I scoff.
"Yeah." Jug states likes it's obvious.
"What do I have to explain?" I say with an eye roll.
"I don't know. Why you're on the Southside. In my bar. Wanting to talk to my dad." He retorts, venom dripping from his words. He reaches into his Serpent jacket, getting his pack of cigarettes. He takes out the gray lighter and one cigarette, placing in between his full, pink lips, lighting it. I watch memorized. Now, even more angry that this boy, who I just met not to long ago has this effect on me.
"Want one, Sweetie?"
"Uh-no. No, thank you." I choke out and then start walking. He chuckles in response to my nervousness. Then gets serious again as he catches up to me and then looks directly at me with an eyebrow arched, silently asking me to fill him in. I huff.
"You know it's all fake smiles and leather on this side of town. It's not safe, cushy, like the Northside. So yeah, I want to know why you snuck out to see my dad knowing the dangers."
"If you must know, my mother was a serpent."
Jug's eyes widen in surprise.
"It can't be!" He exclaims.
"What?" He starts patting his pockets
"Shit"
"What?!" I repeat more firmer this time.
"You really are an enigma aren't cha?"
I shake my head, giggling. This boy can't keep focus can he?
"You really are a flirt aren't cha?"
We both laugh now. Before I know it we are in front of the white gate guarding my house.
"Tell you what, Cooper. We're here and I never got an explanation. How bout, Pops, say, next weekend?"
"Is the great Jughead Jones asking me on a date?" At that he blushes a bit. He scratches the back of his neck, in nerves I guess.
"Yeah, I guess I am." The boyish smirk on his face turns my insides into putty. How can I say no to this face? This boy. He is supposed to be scary, but he is really just a softy under that bad boy image.
"Okay, yeah!" I agree, my own blush on my cheeks.
"Great. See you soon, Coop." He says while he places a piece of paper into my hand and gives me a little wink as he turns to walk away.
