In the midst of prewar World War II,
two find each other.
For the first time in almost forever, the canal is frozen.
All of the boys and girls went out to skate.
There was one boy in particular
He liked to show off a bit
Trying to catch the eye of a pretty girl.
Then one caught his eye.
A girl who was struggling to skate.
With a twirl and jump
The boy puts on a show.
He landed squarely on his butt.
When he looked up he noticed she was silently laughing.
She tried to help him up and they both fell down and ended up doubling over in laughter.
This turned into the courting of a century.
I want a love like that.
Fastforward eight years and they were finally able to get married.
They decide that they are going to the land that freed them from the bondage of the Nazis.
They begin a new life in a new land.
Traveling from place to place,
building new homes
(him being a self-learned carpenter)
and even starting a family.
Thick and thin,
they remained together.
I want a love like that.
They continued to celebrate their love even as
they turned into empty nesters.
Soon their children had children.
Grandparents.
Their love grew.
I want a love like that.
Life transformed the moment age caught up with them.
Small strokes,
operations,
cancer.
Despite this they still wanted to live together.
Sometimes this led to trouble.
But seeing them holding hands,
seeing the love that was communicated
by their eyes.
I want a love like that.
Sadly, life ended all too soon.
Both passing away within about 2 weeks of each other.
They couldn't live without each other.
Their lives were celebrated at their funerals.
Children and grandchildren recalling the lives they lived.
From the stories that were told to
little things that showed that their love was one
that was
godly and
a reflection of
Christ and the Church.
That's
the
Kind of Love
I
Want.
