Casper closed the glass door behind him and unbuttoned his cufflinks. The meeting had finally ended and the deal was finalized.
His already throbbing head was beckoning for a good night's sleep.
Where was Emma now?
"Emma." He called out to his assistant.
"Here, Sir." She was a few steps behind him.
She opened and closed her mouth a few times to say something.
He sighed and raked his hand through his raven hair in frustration.
"Speak up Emma. We don't have all the time in the world." He glanced at his assistant who was fidgeting in her place.
Emma was a few feet behind him and Casper had to wait for her to catch up to him.
"It's Mr.Johnson. He invited you to dinner in Hotel Gracias-." Casper waited for her to finish the sentence. But he knew what was to come out of this dinner.
"He wanted to remind you about your deal with him," she completed dispiritedly. Emma knew the terms of that deal. Though harsh; their company and Casper had to honor Mr.Johnson's wishes.
Casper nodded to the newly supplied information and motioned her towards the car.
There was no irritation or disturbance on his face; just plain nonchalance.
This was no new scene for Emma. Emma had never seen her boss register any emotion over the course of her experience with him.
But Ava Williams was an exception to this case. She was an existence that always brought storm in Casper's tranquil life.
His face would show a whole range of negative emotions when he confronted Ms. Williams. Emma had seen more emotions on her boss's face in last week than the past seven years.
Emma knew the rules of working with Casper.
No one was to interfere in his private life and mentioning of Ms. Ava or Williams Industries was a taboo. But it was Ms. Williams that sought him out and interfered in his every private business. Sometimes she wondered if her boss deliberately encouraged her on.
Mr. Miller was not a playboy billionaire. He had money but he didn't spend it on girls and clubs. That was the thing that attracted Emma to her boss. But there was a problem here.
He had a girl as a constant fixture in his life - the girl in his wallet.
He would buy a cake on her birthday, decorate it and throw it in the garbage at the end of the day. They would go on foreign business trips and Mr.Miller would always make it a point to buy gifts for her. But those gifts would pile up in the locked drawer of his desk.
Emma was positive that his devotion would fade away with time but that was not the case. Slowly she had learned to give up on her crush and she watched his story unfold from the third person's pov.
"We're here," Casper spoke and Emma collected her wandering and scattered thoughts.
Mr. Johnson was waiting for them in the hotel lounge. He gave Casper a firm handshake and lead them to their table.
Casper leaned back on the sofa. His legs were placed a bit apart and his face leaked no strain about the gravity of the situation.
"I see. You've got the same nerve from your earlier days." Mr. Johnson snorted a peal of laughter.
Casper fake smiled at the obvious jab and straightened his back to confront his financer. His gaze remained impassive and his fingers played with the ring on his left.
