Yungkiddthe1: My heart so broken *cries*

Gamerfreakboy2.0:*pats Yungkiddthe1 on back*

Bballpro21: We hardly know each other, and besides I don’t believe in online-dating.

UniquePanda07: Yeah, same for me

Lovely Dice: Well, it was a suggestion; you both could get to know each other better you never know. I heard a lot more couples are meeting online nowadays…

Gamerfreakboy2.0: PanBall FTW!

Zeverly Grayson tapped her fingers against her desk as she finished reading the last chat log. Online-dating someone she hardly knows? That was something she never would have considered herself doing. It was not like she was ugly, nor did she consider herself gorgeous. First, her shoulder length hair was too wavy, and always ended up tangled. Her body wasn’t the least bit perfect. She could stand to lose a few pounds, her bosom was too big for her liking, and don’t get her started on her behind. She wore a size seven, and if it was up to her, she would be a size zero. Only, she knew her mom would kill her for losing so much weight. Her mother believed if you’re African-American, then that meant having a nice curvy body, along with a nice behind.

Zeverly shifted in her chair, catching herself over reading her last chat. “Why does that question bother me so much?” she muttered under her breath, as she typed a few more things, and decided to log off for the night.

“Damn dice and her ludicrous ideas.” she thought, raising her arm above her head to stretch.

Zeverly tried to ignore the thought from her head, it was no use over thinking it. Turning off her laptop, Zeverly crawled into her bed with her favorite book; she wanted to read a few chapters before going to sleep. Zeverly hated being sleepy at school, it just didn’t mix well. She had four more days of school before the weekend. As much as she wanted to miss school, she couldn’t. Zeverly was sixteen, and set to graduate in June of the next year. She was on the honor roll, perfect attendance, and top of her class. At her school, that is an accomplishment for someone of her background, but it also meant some wanted to see her fail, and she refused to let that happen.

At Migrant’s high school nothing was ever simple. There was no such thing as diversity. The ‘Blacks’ (as people like her were called,) had their side, and the Whites had the other. It was just like the town she lived in - divide by skin color-. If you’re too dark you’re black, if you’re too light you’re white. If you’re in between, then you’re nobody. Little sad to say, but it was true.

Zeverly was African-American, and proud of it. Still, she did not have the hated for whites, like so many people she knew. Her mother didn’t raise three children to hate anyone. Vera Grayson was a known nurse who took pride of helping people of no matter what color they were, but her father was a different story. Charles Grayson didn’t outright hate whites; he just held a certain amnesty towards them. Her mother told her something happened when he was young. Her mom would never give her the full details, and her father refused to talk about it. She just figured whatever happen, must have been bad.

Looking at the clock, she decided she would stay up for another thirty minutes. Enough time to finish a chapter, and still get a goodnight sleep. Grabbing her pillow, she reached over, and turned on her lamp. Taking the bookmark out the last page, and snuggling under her covers, she felt at peace under there. This was the only time she ever could.
