Louis didn't want this life. He still doesn't. He never wished to live like this; with this power. But somehow, he ended up in that specific body and with that specific mind, and all that is left for him to do now is deal with it.

Louis can read minds.

It might seem pretty unnatural considering the fact that Louis is living in a completely normal world, where he is the only person with this superpower. But Louis doesn't know how it happened either. He was born with the abnormal ability to travel his way into another human's mind, without them noticing, and hear everything going on in there.

You should probably feel honored and excited that you've gotten the opportunity to do this, but Louis was honestly just tired of it by now. In the 17 years Louis had lived, he had possessed this power, so he really didn't know it any other way, but he would like to lead a normal life instead.

At first, he thought that everyone had this power, like him, but when he spoke to a friend of his, and found out that they didn't, it caused him trouble. The friend, of course, thought Louis was crazy and told the whole school what he had said. That caused people to start bullying Louis to the extent where he had to change schools. Since then Louis has never dared talking to anyone, not even his own mother, about his mind-reading ability.

It also took a couple of years to learn how to manage it. Until Louis was about 5 he had no control over the power at all, so he jumped in and out of other peoples minds non-stop which often gave him unbearable headaches. But then he learned how to deal with it, and now he almost has full control. Except the fact that his mind forces him to read at least one mind a day. One time he didn't and he thought he was going to die with how much his head hurt.

He's learned to live with it, but he wished he didn't always have to read minds. Sometimes he heard some stuff he really shouldn't have heard. You would be surprised with how much is wrong with people in general.

Like when his math teacher was undressing one of the students in his mind and imagining having sex with her. Louis couldn't even look at his teacher after that, and wanted to do something about it, but he knew he couldn't. That's the thing with this power; Louis never has any proof of what he hears since it's going on inside of peoples heads.

Louis goes to an art school, specifically in grade 11. He's currently on his way to school. He's taking the public bus, because his bike is flat right now and his mother left early for work, so he had no other choice really. Well, he could walk, but it's cold and he's too lazy. He's sitting in the front part of the bus, like he usually does when he takes the bus, which isn't often.

Louis is looking out the window, mind wondering off to who knows where, when another boy steps into the bus. Louis doesn't see him at first, too busy in his own thoughts, but then he hears a deep voice coming from the front of the bus and he looks up. He sees a boy in the same school uniform as himself, but he's never seen the guy around school before, so he figures he must be new. The boy asks the driver if the bus stops at the school Louis goes to, which means Louis is right.

When the tall boy has payed for his ticket he turns towards Louis, and the rest of the bus, to find a seat. That's when Louis sees his face. The boy has chocolate brown curls and emerald green eyes. He's absolutely stunning, Louis thinks to himself as the boys' eyes search the bus for an empty seat. He ends up sitting down with his back the opposite way of Louis, a few more rows towards the front, which gives Louis a fantastic opportunity to look directly at him.

Louis makes the haste decision to read the boys' mind. Just to know something about him and to see if he really is new to Louis' school, Louis convinces himself. Definitely not to get into a hot boys' mind, he thinks.
