Pong was annoyed. Kin had been selling stuff all day and Pong just wanted some peace and quiet. He had tried throwing things, playing loud music, praying, and bouncing on the bed. Nothing worked. Kin was still somehow selling things. Pong shook his head and left the room, even though it was getting late.
The slamming door cause Kin to look up. When he saw that Pong had left, he pouted but tried to continue selling. He hasn't told Pong one of the reasons people kept coming back was because they were amused by the dimpled boy's attempts to stop him from selling stuff. However, his heart wasn't in it and the people could tell. He started getting comments that told him to stop if he wasn't in the mood. The one that made him pause, however, was the one that said "go get your faen!"
Faen? They weren't dating. They were just roommates (wasn't there a dumb American vine from several years ago that went "and they were roommates" though?) and fellow interns. Although if Kin was being honest with himself, he did think Pong was cute. Like, very cute. He was the only one Kin could easily recognize out of all the other interns (Valen and Neung had wondered why Kin never said their names until Pong had discovered that Kin had face blindness and told them privately). Kin asked the few people still watching if they thought he and Pong were dating.
"You aren't???" "I thought he annoyed you for a gimmick!" "What do you mean you're NOT??" "GO GET HIM IF YOU AREN'T DATING AND MAKE HIM YOUR BOYFRIEND!" "Why are you still here, go get him!!"
Kin was surprised. He had no idea that people thought they were dating. He knew Neung and Kay were, and Tone and Akk looked like they were going to. But Kin had assumed that Pong liked Nook, as he had seen him look at her with a concerned expression. (Well he thought it was Nook. He couldn't tell the girls apart, but when he told the other boys that, they had looked at him like he was insane). He bid his followers goodbye, put the unsold products in a drawer, and put on his shoes. He hoped Pong hadn't gone too far.
Pong hadn't gone that far, actually. He was just angrily walking around the block the hotel was on (since he knew an angry intern was bad for business), muttering under his breath.
"Stupid idiot Kin with his selling shit and stupid followers that keep buying it so he keeps selling it and doesn't pay any attention to me--"
Pong stopped dead. Why had he said that? He didn't need attention from Kin. Kin was annoying half the time! Although Pong had to admit when Kin had come real close that one night, he thought he was very cute. He was kind of expecting a kiss, actually. He wouldn't have minded. Pong hadn't dated anyone for over a year, when his girlfriend broke up with him for paying more attention to his studies than to her. Whatever. Kin was a buddy, nothing more. Pong shoved his hands into his pockets and kept walking, not looking where he was going. As a result, when someone knocked into him, making him trip and fall, he was surprised.
"Oy! Look where you're goi-!" Pong looked up and was startled to see Kin, who looked very upset that he had knocked Pong over. Gosh, he looked cute when he was concerned— No! Pong mentally gave himself a shake and started getting up, ignoring Kin's outstretched hand.
Kin couldn't believe it. He had been running to find Pong and he just knocked him over. And now Pong was angrier than he already had been, considering he usually had no problem with Kin touching him. Kin was at a loss at what to do. He wanted Pong to be his usual self, but wasn't sure how to make that happen. So he just silently followed Pong as he made his way back to their room.
Pong was concerned, as Kin usually never shut up. He always had comments or opinions. Why was he silent now? He hadn't even said sorry, he just stood there when Pong had stood up and looked around awkwardly. And Kin knew which one he was. Kin constantly got everyone mixed up, except Pong. It often took an entire conversation for Kin to figure out if he was talking to Kay or Akk if they didn't mention their boyfriend, even though the two looked nothing alike. But Kin had figured out Pong on the night they promised to help each other to try and become the Hotel Stars. Pong couldn't stand the silence any longer, as usually the two bantered back and forth.
"What are you doing out here? Don't you have stuff to sell?"
"Sold everything" Kin said lightly. This was a lie. Kin had about a quarter of a box of face products to sell, but he didn't want Pong to be mad at him anymore if he could help it.
"Oh."
An awkward silence overcame them again as they got back to their room. Pong opened the door with the electronic key and they walked inside. Pong flopped on his bed, and Kin sat down next to him.
"Does me selling things annoy you?
Pong sat up and considered the question. It wasn't really the fact that Kin was selling things that annoyed him. It really was the fact that it meant Kin wasn't available to talk to him, if he was being honest with himself. He wasn't sure how to say that, however. He had thought Kin liked him, which was why he had asked Kin to get that sauce pan with him. Kin had enjoyed that, looking at all the various kitchen products. But maybe he had looked too much into it. But Kin had been willing to put lotion on Pong, too. And Pong remembered that Kin had left his hand on his back after he had finished rubbing the lotion in, which had felt...well, nice.
Kin wasn't sure why this question was taking so long to answer. Pong seemed lost in thought, which perplexed Kin, since it was a simple yes or no answer. He wasn't sure if he should ask again or not, so he just shifted to get into a more comfortable position, accidentally putting his hand over one of Pong's. Pong started, then looked at their hands. Kin, embarrassed, started taking his hand away, but Pong stopped him by putting his hand on top of Kin's.
"I guess...I don't like it because it takes up a lot of your time. You used to have more time for me" Pong mumbled, not looking at Kin.
Kin considered this. He hadn't been paying much attention to Pong, not since he started selling items—items that Pong had accidentally shown him. Kin absentmindedly slipped his thumb over the back of Pong's hand and started stroking it as he thought about what to say. He hadn't realized he was doing it until he noticed Pong staring at their hands. He looked at Pong, who had the same expression as the night they had made their pinky promise, like he was expecting something. Kin's heart started racing. Before he could think too much about it, he closed the distance between them and put his lips on Pong's. There was a split second of Pong not responding, but then he started kissing back.
Pong couldn't believe it. Kin did have feelings for him. The kiss was electric, and Pong wanted more. He moved until he was sitting in Kin's lap, causing the taller boy to smile against the kiss. When they finally broke apart, they looked at each other, not entirely sure what to do now. Kin broke the silence by blurting out one of the reasons he hadn't been paying attention to Pong.
"I thought you liked Nook"
Pong was taken aback. He cared about Nook as a friend, having known her from university. But he didn't have feelings for her, especially not with Kin in the picture. Plus, Nook was still mad at him, not that he knew why.
"Nook is just a friend. Do you think I would kiss back if I didn't have feelings for you?"
Kin considered that and smiled.
"I guess not" he said as he tilted Pong's face up for another kiss.
