"Tori"
1 month earlier...
"Victoria, what's up, you okay? You look like you're about to pass out." Chris appeared out of nowhere startling me.
"Ugh.. I was running. Damn PE." I answered still feeling a little dizzy. "Just need to sit down for a second. Tell me, why do I feel like the reason you're here is not your concern about my well-being?" I asked with a small smile playing on my lips.
"I-I just wanted to make sure you're okay, I swear." He answered stuttering a little.
I looked him in the eyes and raised a brow.
"Okay.. Maybe, just maybe I was thinking about asking you out." He stated the obvious.
"Christopher, I know what you're trying to do here. Don't need to beat around the bush. You can tell them it's not happening." I said getting up slowly.
He hung his head in defeat. I left the table and started walking towards the school's main building.
"Please Tori, I don't know what to do. We're so much more than 'school buddies'. You know that." He said catching up to me and matching my pace.
"I think I got something out of your vague explanations, yes. But what do you expect from me, exactly? You want me to walk up to them and say 'hey guys! I let Chris fuck me, he did it, you win'?" I inquired feeling myself getting slightly irritated.
"No, no, of course not. Or maybe..."
"That is not happening, not ever. Think of a better solution, after all, it is your problem. Not mine." I said in a harsh manner though I didn't want to hurt him. I could feel myself become more and more fond of him in spite of the circumstances. Chris had a good heart though he learned to hide that fact well.
We finally reached our destination, my locker. I opened it and turned around to face him.
"I understand wh-" He suddenly froze and the words stuck in his throat. I was about to look over my shoulder to see what was going on but he grabbed my hand and inhaled sharply.
"Don't look. Also, don't panic. It's Alycia." The moment these words left his mouth I immediately freaked out.
"I said be cool. She hasn't noticed us yet." He was telling me to chill and yet he was the one whose voice skipped an octave.
"How the hell am I supposed to 'be cool'?" I whispered aggressively. "Why do I feel like you're just as excited as I am?" I asked suddenly surprised.
"Umm, we're friends right? That's what friends do." He answered me and took a quick peek above my shoulder.
I couldn't comprehend what he just said. Friends? Him and I? But before I had the chance to ask he came super close to me.
"She's coming towards us. I'm gonna go the opposite direction and you are going to act natural, okay?" And just like that he left, walked away to disappear around a corner a couple of seconds later.
"Hey Victoria, what are you up to?" My brain was fried. I faced her because my muscle memory told me it is a good thing to do when someone's talking to you.
"H-hi" Was all I could muster in that moment. I felt the heat of embarrassment upon my cheeks.
"You're cute." I most certainly am not "Not much of a talker, huh? It's fine. I'm afraid my rambling may be enough for the both of us." She giggled at her own joke while I stood there enchanted. She took my hand and dragged me with her. As we were walking through the hallways she talked about the classes that we share, but I zoned out eventually.
My thoughts running wild, all of them concerning the pretty blonde girl that was holding my hand, not at all minding the stares we were receiving.
