You Idiot [Derek]

I walk up to the balcony and see Bethany pacing around. I walk up to her and hug her from behind.

"Hey B, you ready for this dance?" I ask excitedly. She tenses up at first then relaxes. Bethany turns around and looks at me, and I notice she's not looking to confident. My excitement turns into concern.

"Bethany, hey, what's bothering you? Are you feeling ok?" For the past few weeks, you could feel the radiance of confidence on her, but now? Not so much.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm ok.  I just need a little time to myself, that's all. I'm just going to go for a walk" I chuckle.

"Wearing those high heels?" I joke, pretending to look stunned. She smiles, finally.
"I won't be too long, ok?"

"Alrighty, be careful B" I give her a hug and let her walk. When she's gone, I quickly search for Mark. I see him sitting on a bench nearby. I jog my way over and take a seat next to him.

"Yo Mark, how's it going?"

"Been going pretty well, I feel like Sadie's gonna blow this dance right out of the water!" I can tell Mark's excited about this dance.

"I'm guessing its about Duck Dynasty" I laugh, as Mark is wearing all camo and a huge fake beard.

"Really, how could you tell?" He says jokingly.

We both laugh, but then I remember Bethany. "Hey man, do you know what's going on with Bethany?"

"I don't know man, Sadie told me she looks a little off since the dress rehearsal." Mark replied. I could tell he was a little worried too. I mean, we're all a family here. "Did something happen at dress rehearsal?"

I think about it. All I remember was doing the dance. She was alright then, she seemed so focused, until she almost slipped. And then it all came back to me.

"Derek? You ok? You look like you're lost in your own world."

I snap out of it. How could I forget! I had to find Bethany.

"Yeah, I should just talk to Bethany, get her to focus, you know?" I quickly say bye and look for Bethany.
Derek, you idiot. No wonder she's trying to avoid you.
