chapter sixteen

"Taehyung, darling."

"Hmph?" Taehyung grumbles, groggily opening his eyes and finding himself in an all to familiar place.

"Mum?" He calls out, staring at the tall, slender figure of the beautiful female before him.

"Ah, yes, Taehyung, darling." She says quickly, sitting beside Taehyung. "I brought you here because i needed to discuss something with you."

Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "Okay...what is it, Mum?"

Yuri sighed before facing her son. "Taehyung, everything is not as it seems out there."

Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows, confused as to what his mother was trying to say. "What do you mean?"

Yuri let out a long sigh, holding out a hand as she cupped her son's cheek.

"Taehyung...there's an evil in your world, that I cannot make out. It's dangerous and vile...and it's coming for you, my love."

Taehyung widened his eyes. "B-but why?"

"There's a power in you, sweetie. It's...out of this world. And it wants it. It's going to try to get it from you, no matter what." Yuri said, tears evident in her eyes. "Taehyung, trust nobody. Tell nobody. You don't know who is out to get you. They know about you. And they won't stop until they get what they want."

"B-but--" Taehyung stuttered.

Yuri sighed. "Keep it from them, for now, love. I know especially how you feel towards him. Believe me, I know."

"W-what do you mean?"

Yuri smiled, before letting out a chuckle. "Oh, Taehyung. You're so naive...you'll know eventually. But, for now, tell no one. And be alert, understood?"

Taehyung nodded his head, earning a small smile from his mother as she caressed his cheek.

The vision of his mother started to fade away, as she spoke a few words before disappearing.

"Stay safe, love."

"Taehyung? Taehyung!"

Taehyung shoots up, looking around in alarm as he takes in Jungkook and Yoongi, both wearing a worried look on their faces.

"J-jungkook? Y-yoongi?" He stutters.

Jungkook and Yoongi both exhale a sigh of relief, a small, lopsided smile making it's way towards Jungkook's face.

"Thank god you're okay. I thought we lost you." Jungkook says, relief evident in his tone.

Taehyung cocks an eyebrow, confused as to what Jungkook was saying.

"What do you mean? Wasn't I just sleeping?" He asks, Jungkook and Yoongi exchanging glances.

"Yes, I guess you were...but the thing is...you weren't breathing, Tae. And you had no pulse. It was as if you were dead." Yoongi says, looking down at Taehyung.

"I w-was, what?" Taehyung mutters in shock.

He was...momentarily dead? But how was that possible? He felt fine when he regained consciousness.

"I guess i have to ask mum when I see her again." Taehyung whispers to herself, only to see Jungkook raise an eyebrow in return.

"Did you say something, Taehyung?" He asks, Taehyung shaking his head in reply.
