That's the number of days until September 30th, 2020. That's the last day you can submit your COMPLETED story for the 2020 Wattys. Yep, the rules and regs have posted...not exactly sure if that was today or what but they're up.For those that noticed my complaining about not feeling inspired this morning, my mind has done a complete 180 on that. First, I already have two stories that qualifies for the Wattys, I just need to polish them a bit.Second, I think I will attempt to write another, brand new story. Here's what I figure: as of today, I have 7 months and 20 days. 50,000 words is achievable in 3 months if I write at my typical, normal rate of 500 words per day. I figure that gives me a month or so to plan, say until the end of March. I start writing on April 1 with the goal of finishing by the end of June or mid to late July at the latest. That still gives me a couple of months to fine-tune.Ok, so that's best-case scenario. To make this even more fun, I'm going to document my progress. I've got to pick a story, and I'm pretty sure I know which one. Then, do some outlining and prep before writing starts. If you want to join me on this adventure, feel free to. I'll be sharing more about how I intend to proceed in the coming week once I get my thoughts more organized. This also means that other projects will be put on hold for now. I was considering the Open Novella Contest but finding inspiration has been difficult, even though I have several good ideas. Contrast that with the Wattys and I felt immediately inspired. I may still take a stab at ONC but we'll see.The zombie story I'm working on I'll keep plugging away on as there's time but that will also take a bit of secondary role for now and unfortunately, so will any sequels to Intervention and The Descent (both of which are on the drawing board). I need a blank slate. So, that's me feeling all inspired and everything. Who else is aiming for the Wattys, whether it's with a new story or an existing story?
