"So what I'm a monster? So I kill them with success and bury them with a smile."

Fear. It's what drives some, but weakens others. The heart races, the hands start sweating, the mind is swelled with what if's, and the brain cannot function correctly. It is blinded by the feeling of panic, and the whole body is alert.

This was how Taehyung felt everyday of his life.

At any moment, one of the Dark Knight students could snap and have an innocent Bright Knight student against the lockers in seconds, baring it's sharp canines close to the sensitive part of the throat, ready to dive right in. The innocent student would be completely helpless to the true nature of the creature.

But that wouldn't happen, Principle Lee claimed. They wouldn't do a thing unless given permission by the humans themselves. Which students always did.

Taehyung was one of the unfortunate souls living in the era where monsters walked among humans. Vampires, they were. Dark, intimidating, and creepy. That's how Taehyung viewed them to be. But the students at his high school thought otherwise. Hot, mysterious, and sexy.

Rising Knights Academy was a prestigious school on the island of Jeju-do. Surrounded by beautiful scenic views—bright blue water, clear skies, lush green hills and rocky regions—the school was the definition of perfection.

Until the vampires came.

Taehyung couldn't help but note that the waters became darker, the skies clouded over, and the hills and rocky regions looked too dangerous to climb.

They were called the Dark Knights. They stuck together most of the time, and often had secret meetings at midnight in the library. Bright Knights—the human students—were fascinated with the monsters. Taehyung would see humans getting their blood sucked in the hallway on the daily.

And it was terrifying.

Fear was a weakness for Taehyung. After all, vampires could smell fear, and Taehyung reeked of it. He tried to stay invisible, but every predator likes to play with their food. Taehyung knew for sure that they would get tired of the Bright Knights baring their necks to them, and start looking for a challenge.

Like Taehyung.

Taehyung hoped that he would be graduated by then. He still had two years after the current one he was in, but hopefully he would make it through his high school years bite-free.

He prayed.

"Taehyung! Get your ass out of bed! You're gonna be late!" Taehyung groaned at his roommate's loud and obnoxious voice. He rolled over to his side and brought his knees to his chest, hugging them there.

"Five more minutes." He grumbled. There was a moment of silence, and Taehyung thought that he was going to get his wish.

Until he felt a cold pillow whack against his head.

Taehyung was sitting up in seconds, grabbing the pillow and chucking it at Jungkook's head. Jungkook squealed and ducked, before standing up and grinning at him. Taehyung glared daggers into his head.

"You don't have time to sleep in, sleeping beauty. Get up before I throw this at your head again." Jungkook lifted the pillow up and raised it threateningly to make his point. Taehyung huffed and pushed himself out of bed, letting his bare feet touch the cold tile floor.
