"Dustin! What the hell is that?!" I ask.
"I'm not quite sure yet. I found him in our trash last night. He's cute right?" He asks petting the slimy creature in his hand.
"I don't think so." I say.
"His name is D'artagnan. Dart for short. He doesn't like heat, and he loves nougat. I'm going to the library today to get more books so that I can see if I can find his species." He says putting Dart in the trap he made.
"Don't you already have five books out?" I ask.
"That doesn't matter, this is in the name if science!" He yells running out the front door. I just laugh to myself.
I hope whatever that thing is isn't some poisonous mutant frog. I finished my toast and chugged down my orange juice. My doorbell rang. Alex was supposed to ride with me to school today. Steve called this morning and said he couldn't come. I wonder what happened between him and Nancy.
I rush to the door to see Alex with a bag in hand. "I want half of our earnings from last night." She says.
"Fine." I roll my eyes. We run to my room and I put half the stash in the bag she brought.
"Nice doing business with you ma'am." She smiles.
We head out the house and get on our bikes to go to school.
"So, what did you and Nathan talk about last night?" I ask smirking.
Her face turned red. "U-Uh, nothing in particular."
"Oh really? The man drops us off at my house and walks you home. You guys outside stayed like twenty minutes just talking." I say.
"Ok fine, he gave me his number." She says.
I stop peddling. "No way!"
"Yes way!" She says. We both squeal in excitement.
"What happened between you and Mr. Hargrove?" She asks.
"Samantha Lyburn. That's what happened." I say. "She walked in on Billy and I's conversation and basically took over. The funny thing was he wasn't paying any attention to her."
"Ou~" She wiggles her eyebrows.
"Don't get too excited. He was sucking her face off on the dance floor." I sigh. "I don't know Alex. Maybe I was wrong, I am looking for a relationship, but feel like I don't really need one. Greene showed me what guys really want. Billy clearly is like that, but it's hard to get over him because I...like...him."
Alex grins slightly. "Maybe he'll change. Who knows? You may be the one to do it."
"Yea, yea, whatever. Let's just get to school." I say starting to peddle again.
"Race ya!" She yells taking off.
"Hey!"

The bell for first period rings and in walks my teacher. Billy is nowhere to be found. He's probably skipping again. I just roll my eyes and put on my smock. My teacher explains that we need to paint something with the word Wanderlust. My mind filled with ideas on what to paint. I picked up my pencil and began tracing on my canvas. There was a knock on the door but I ignored it. A set of boots made their way to me. The boots sat down next to me and tapped my shoulder.
"Hi Billy." I say without looking continuing to sketch.
"How'd you know it was me?" He asks.
I stop to look at him. "I have peripheral vision."
"I heard what happened last night."
