I held her close, and for the first time in seven months I felt complete. Without her, I'm nothing and I know it. I left her here to protect her from my life and my demons. To keep her separate from the people who have done everything in their power to keep me in their circle of lies, deception and corruption.
I never wanted any of this to touch her life, but David telling her that I was dead did exactly that. He didn't know why I left, or when I was to be returning. He didn't know any of the associates I was involved with on a personal level to have anyone tell him something like this. Where would he get the idea that I was dead? And more importantly, why would he tell Raven?
To everyone around me I was nothing more than a businessman who traveled internationally to gain investments for Hitchcock International, a company that designed computer software for commercial businesses. What they didn't know about Hitchcock International was that the software they provided tracked the financials of every business, as well as that of their clients.
Hitchcock International was guilty of more than corruption and deception. Their employees were guilty of embezzlement and fraud, and darker things that I can't mention... Because I'm a part of it...
