I find myself walking into a building, unaware of my surroundings or anyone around me. I continue to wonder, how exactly did I get to this point?
Oh right, it's all because of a stupid divorce. I'm not surprised though, my mother has a difficult time finding the right man. That's why I strive to be as different from her as possible.
We moved away to get away from him, he was practically psychotic, not to mention, abusive.
I snap back into reality. I continue walking up the stairs to homeroom. It's the middle of the year so everyone has most likely found their friend group.
I step into a room. The teacher was sitting at his desk as the students gathered around each other, talking about whatever. I didn't pay attention, it wasn't my business.
See, I don't bother to attempt to make friends myself because, there's no point. I'll most likely be moved again in the next few months anyways.
If somewhere were to come up to me though, I don't really mind but, I'm not going out of my way to do so myself.
As I go to greet the teacher, he interrupts me. "Go sit down over there next to Cassandra. Cassandra, stand up."
In the back row, stood a beautiful, tall, tan, dark-haired, girl. For some reason, I just stood there for a moment until I was interrupted.
"You may go take a seat now." The teacher stated, firmly.
I walked over to her. She grinned and took a seat as I began also taking a seat next to her.
"Where did you move from?" She said, still smiling.
"Oh, I moved from Ohio."
I looked down at a paper that had been handed out. It was a about a spring dance coming up this Friday. This all sounds like some cliché love story. A dance does sound fun and it is an opportunity for me to get away from my mom and hopefully, socialize.
After a few hours of going from one class to another, I head to the lunch room. I had completely forgotten my lunch money but that didn't matter because I wasn't that hungry anyways.
I take a seat at a empty table in the corner. The next thing I knew, the girl known as Cassandra was sitting next to me. She handed me a sandwich and grinned.
"Thank you, but I'm not going to take your food. I'm not hungry anyways. save it for yourself."
I believe I must've offended her because she quickly turned away and looked down. It was silent for what seemed like an eternity until she broke the silence.
"It's okay, I believe you already know but, my name is Cassandra, what's yours?" She said, slightly grinning once again.
"I really am sorry for not properly introducing myself earlier. My name is Marie."
"Your name is so beautiful!"
I could feel my face becoming red.
"That's sweet of you but, I'm not exactly fond of my name, it's quite boring."
She had that same expression of when I declined her food. Was she actually offended by my careless comment?
"Every name has a story, inferring that every name is also unique."
What the hell was this girl talking about? She seems sweet but, I'm not exactly into this "your name is unique" crap. It's quite cheesy in my opinion.
"I'm sorry but I don't seem to understand. It's just a name. I mean, I have to live with it for the rest of my life but that's about all there is to it." I stated.
She put her hands on my shoulders and looked at me with this look. Her eyes were glossy, as if she was on the verge of tears. Yet, she was still smiling. Talk about sensitive, much.
I know I keep referring to stories as a resemblance of what's going on but really, this is all becoming some really-dramatic love story. Without the love part.
I push her hands off my shoulders and walk away to find the restroom because I didn't wanna deal with this anymore. I finally find it after a few minutes of looking.
As I'm about to walk in, I feel somebody and grab lower-arm. Before I can react, the next thing I knew, I was being pushed against the wall.
It was Cassandra.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I shout as I try to get away.
"Can I come over after school?"
This girl is crazy. She's over here acting as if she's going to hurt me and instead, she's asking for an invitation to my house?
"I-" I didn't know what to say. Well, I did but, I couldn't for some reason.
"I'd rather you not. My mom doesn't like company over" This wasn't completely a lie, but I mainly didn't want her meeting my mom or my mom meeting this psycho.
She finally let go of me and stood back.
"Well, I'll see you at central park at exactly 5pm" She said as she walked away.
Does she expect me to actually come meet up with her after everything? I shall not let her looks fool me. She's absolutely insane.
