The Deadly Babysitter

Chapter 5: Odd Behavior

After I finished up in the shower, I went back downstairs to greet Haley. 

I noticed that she was holding Chloe and laying on my couch as if she had owned the place. I decided to watch her for a bit before telling her I was right behind her.

Haley picked up a picture frame that was beside her and looked at it.

I walked in front of her. 

She stared at the picture as if in a daze. 

"Is everything okay?"

She took about ten seconds to look up.

".....Oh, hi!"

"I asked if everything was okay," I said.

"Oh ,yeah it is. But....is this your husband in this picture with you?"

"Yes, why?"

"No reason," she said as she looked back down and set the picture back on the desk and looked at Chloe. She smiled.

"My husband, Nick, will be home any minute now so you can sit and wait if you like. I have to feed Chloe away"

I reached my arms out for Chloe. 

Haley said quickly, " WAIT! I should feed her since I'm the babysitter now. Just so I can get to know her better.

"Um.....First, you don't yell at me! Second, Chloe is my daughter and if I wanna feed her then I will feed her, not you."

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm so glad we cleared that up though".

Before I could say anything else, I heard a car pull up in the driveway.

"Oh, is that Nick?"

She got up instantly and walked over to the screen door.

She ran out the door and yelled, "NICK! HEY, NICK IT'S ME HALEY!"

I thought to myself. Why did she seem so interested in that picture of me and Nick? Why was she so eager to see him?

I would find out soon enough as I walked outside to find Haley and Nick embracing with Chloe in her hands. I almost thought for a second that if I had seen them in a store somewhere, I would have definitely thought they were together.
