After docking the boat Kratos and the boy their home in the woods. Kratos negins to chop up wood with purpose and the boy heads inside.
The door creak open revealing where his mother lye, wrapped and then decorated. The boy walks forward and takes the lit candle with him. He walks closer towards his mother's body. The sun's rays shine through the cracks in the roof. Particles of dust dance through the light as it shines down on his late mother.
"Lo, there do I see my Mother,"
He says lighting the candles placed around her body one by one.
"Lo, there do I see my Father, Lo, there do they call to me."
He says lighting the last candles and placing the one he had down.
"Lo, there do they call to me." He repeated as he sprinkles leaves on his mother's body. This which he repeats as he kneels his head upon his mother's body.
Standing straight, the boy turns and there the shadowy figure of his father. This figure contrasts with the white of the snow giving an image that any man would fear.
Kratos walks in from the cold to a sniffling and tearful son.
"She's ready." After having made clear that he was not ready to let his mother go.
Kratos walks forward as the boy steps away. Looking over his late wife, wrapped and decorated with flowers.
"Find your way home.
You are free." He says hently. He picks up her body gently; his eyes focused on the woman he once knew. Though he cannot see her face, he could imagine it as if it were only yesterday that her smile shined.
Lifting her out of the cabin and placing the on the pile of wood, Kratos starts the fire. As they watch the boy quickly grabs his mother's knife but drops it on the snow, unable to bare the heat.
"I'm sorry" the boy says as he turns to look at his father.
Kratos reaches out to the boys hand and places ice over the burn.
"Squeeze." He says simply. "This knife, It was hers." He says presenting it to his son. "Now it is yours."
