"Do you remember me? I'll give you hints if you need them hmm?"
I stood next to the crack in the wall. One of the mans blue eyes and half a smile shone through it in the dim light. Myles was... Busy again. The guard had left the door unlocked because they thought I was passed out because a fever from my 'disease'.
I tried to think of who he was but nothing came. I shook my head and came closer to the crack against my better judgement. He was so familiar and I naturally felt myself relaxing.
"We have known each other since we were young... we lived in the same rouge camp..." He trailed off, obviously thinking that was enough but it wasn't. I stared blankly at him. He sighed, "Name starts with an 'M'... ends with an 'arshall'..." He smiled.
Marshall. Marshall... Marshall Harvest! "Hallsy!" I exclaimed his nickname. Then I covered my mouth with a hand and looked around. I heard him chuckle and turned to the crack.
"They'll be at it for a few more, and they make enough noise to cover your... Excitement." He wiggled his eyebrow.
I couldn't help the warm blush that crawled its way up my neck to my cheeks. I glared at him but he simply brushed it aside.
"So, girly, how's it been going- besides getting stuck in here?" He leaned closer to the crack, letting me see he had a small white scar from the corner of his eye to his hair. Rich blonde hair that looked delicately soft... Stop that brain! You keep having bad thoughts and its not acceptable!
"I've been fine. I am part of a pack now and am a bodyguard." I paused at his astonished face. "You left only a few days before a neighboring pack took over our camp and killed Alpha. We were brought into the pack fold but not everyone accepted us. But we keep our heads down and get by."
He looked saddened, "I'm sorry about what happened. Maybe if I had stayed... Maybe a lot of things would be different..." He trailed again and looked somewhere far off.
I stood uncomfortably. "What do you mean? Different how?"
He smiled sadly, "I was four when you were born. I remember that day in great detail. You came out with a small whimper and you opened your eyes so wide I thought they were gonna pop out." He laughed and looked up at me, "Your eyes are still that same pretty color. Almost purple..." A fingertip appeared at the crack but quickly withdrew.
A bobbing pin was pushed through the crack instead and hit the ground with a 'ting'. "Use this to get out. They go to bed around 11, wait until it is completely black outside- no stars. Then come to my cell, the door is through the lunch hall to the left. First cell door. Please do come." His eyes begged me and I had no choice but to agree, he needed me and I needed to obey. It was like instinct... Like we were...
