He jumped in surprise when I walked up to him. "Sorry to distract your sleep, but I thought you might be thirsty." I put the glass of water in front of him.
"Yes thank you, Liz. Is that how you pronounce your name?"
"Call me Lisa, or yes, maybe Liz if Lisa is too hard to pronounce." I smirked. I sat down and took a sip of my water before putting my glass next to his. "I'm just teasing. So what brings you here Jungkook?"
He searched through his briefcase. I had imagined that he was staring at me, but he was too busy looking through his briefcase.
Am I the only one seeing this, or am I just beginning to get immobilized by his glorious look?
Before he could look back up, I quickly grabbed my glass of water and drank it all. I didn't even know it was finished until I wanted another drink. Stupid. I put the glass back down on the table and reached for the manila folder he waved at me. I hope this is not business. I hate business, I thought.
"What's this?" I asked, looking through it. Please don't ask me questions about business. Ask me something you want to know about me. Please!
"I hope you don't mind that I run a background check on your family--"
What? "What do you mean you've run a background check on my family?"
"Well as a new neighbor, I thought that--"
"Are you a police officer, or are yoi stalking my family?" I observed him with my eyes wide open.
"No, this is something that I'm not really likely to get involved with, but--"
"But you still got yourself involved?"
He stared at me. "Yes, but I still got involved. As a matter of fact Miss. Wonder, like I said, as a new neighbor, I thought--"
Blah blah blah. Keep on blabbing. "Wait, you didn't answer my question. Are you a police officer?"
"No, Miss. Manoban, I am--"
"Lisa," I corrected him.
"Lisa," he revised. "I'm just doing--I'm pestering you or your family." He paused for a minute to collect his thoughts. "I just want to knoe about your family. Also, my mother asked about your parents since I'll be moving in with my family tomorrow."
"Yes, I heard you on the phone with her. What does she want to know about my parents?" Prowler! You don't look cute anymore.
He forced a smile and continued. "She knows your parents. Let's just say I would love to know about your family too. Maybe because once I move in. I'll be familiar--"
"Why is it important?"
"That I should know about you and your family?
Because I want to know about it."
"And if I don't want to share it with you at this moment?"
"Then I think that's a fair point well made, because I can tell that by the you're looking at me as a stranger, you--"
"I'm letting you know that I don't share much about my life or my family's. Not with someone like you, a stranger. But if I do want to share. I'll let you know. Is that the only reason you're here? To learn about my background and stalk around?" I hope not. It better not!
"Yes and no. I think my pareants know your parents, but I don't really know. I came a few days ago to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We, uh..." He was obviously thinking what to say next.
"We used to live in Germany, but then we moved to Australia for work and to take care of other things. I thought of maybe buying a house for my family while I was visiting here in Samoa. My mum always wanted house around this area, so..." He pointed to the house he bought. "So I bought that house for her and our family a few weeks ago."
"You said you're the vice president of your father's company. Then you said 'sort of.' What is that suppose to mean?" I gave him a good questioning smile and then stared at him. Stop smiling! He's taken.
"I was just trying to please your brother. I'm sorry I lied to you."
"So you don't work for your father at all? Besides my brother hates to be pleased by people like you. Don't do it again. You wouldn't want to see my brother angry." I could feel the heat burning inside me. I wanted to hold him.
"No, but my father owns it. He's in Australia at the moment, and I told him I would come over to Samoa...with my girlfriend. He wanted me to take over his position while he's away. To be honest, this is the first time I ever worked for my father, and I don't want to upset him." He admitted.
Why does he always says "girlfriend" in a different tone? Does he even have a girlfriend? He doesn't have to lie about it if he doesn't have one.
"How long is he going to be away?"
"They're coming back tomorrow, early morning."
"And how long are you going to stay?"
"About two or three weeks. It depends on how my father needs me for business. Maybe more than a month."
"And what do you do?" Too many questions, dear!
"I'm in the...well, I used to be in the army for the Red Cross. I graduated as an accountant and economist kind of person four years ago. And the--" Ge broke off when his phone rang. He looked at it and then back at me. "I need to take this call, I won't be long."
"Help yourself in the kitchen."
I reached for my glass but I forgot I'd finshed it. I took his and drink half of it. He didn't even drink his stupid water. Rich guys don't drink much...right! Well, they don't drink water at all. They're all in for alcohol. I put the drink back on the table and waited.
He came back. "Sorry, that was...um, my girlfriend. She's asking where I am. I told her I'm at my new neighbor's house. See? I didn't lie."
But I could tell he was lying! "That's so kind of you," I said with fake politeness and he had to know.
It's not like I'm going to cheer for that even if you are lying. Geez!
"Well, it is late I think she has every right to worry."Is Jungkook really lying about having a girlfriend? What do you think? 🤔 STAY TUNE MY LUVS😋🌸
