(Note: Inspired by my novel Not All Ravens Have Black Feathers)
When the sun meets the land
At some far-off coast
Nobody wonders
If this is the close.
But the night is creeping
Into the cracks of your mind
And blood is seeping
Though you'll say you're fine
You'll never be the same again
Though you can try
To outsmart your fate
But demons don't die
Oh, you can run
But you can't hide
From the darkness waiting inside
And you can fight
For your mind
But only destiny you'll find.
You can lock up your fears
But it will find a way
Just when you've dried tears
The night will crash the day
You'll never be the same again
Though you can try
To outsmart your fate
But demons don't die
Oh, you can run
But you can't hide
From the darkness waiting inside
And you can fight
For your mind
But only destiny you'll find.
And the darkness grows tight
As the clock cries the twelfth
With it comes the fright
Of if you'll lose yourself
You'll never be the same again
Though you can try
To outsmart your fate
But demons don't die
Oh, you can run
But you can't hide
From the darkness waiting inside
And you can fight
For your mind
But only destiny you'll find.
Though you fear the night
You can feel it in your mind
Oh, you can try to fight
But it's just fate you'll find.
And if you try to beat me
Rather than succumb
Like an opal to the sea
One with dark you'll become
And you can fight
For your mind
But only destiny you'll find.
Only destiny you'll find.
