New Year's Eve » Ellie's POV

"You know, if you kiss someone at midnight tonight it means you'll spend the rest of that year with them." My mom states matter-of-factly as she organizes her various gems and crystals by color.

"You really believe that?" I cock a brow at her and lean on the counter.

"Of course I do!" She laughs, "That's why I kiss your dad every New Years at midnight, to show that I'll stay with him forever."

I smile and shake my head, "I guess I'll be alone forever, then. I've never been kissed on New Years."

"Never? Honey, you've been at university for a while now, you can't tell me you've never been kissed on New Years." She snorts.

"No, really. I'll be alone for the rest of my life."

"Don't say that," she smiles and lightly slaps my arm, "What about Jungkook?"

I start to blush and I look the other way, "We're just friends, mom."

"Really? I mean you did say you were thinking about him fingering y-"

"Mom!" My face turns a darker red, "Don't bring that up. Besides, I didn't mean it like that, you all just took it the wrong way." I cross my arms over my chest defensively.

"Alright," she looks at me with an amused grin and sorts her red stones into a pile, "Where is he, anyway?"

"Probably drawing in our room. Ever since dad talked to him he's been a little more distant," I sigh refrain from rolling my eyes at the frustration of the situation.

"What did your dad say to him?"

"I don't know," I shrug and look down at the countertop, "he won't tell me."

"Ohhh," she has an epiphany, "He must've given him that talk."

"What do you mean, that talk?" I look at her.

"I told your dad I had a good feeling about Jungkook, and all he did was investigate whether or not I was correct."

"...and?"

"Well he hasn't said anything bad about him. In fact, the first thing he said when he came back from playing billiards with Jungkook, was that he was a very skilled player."

I smile a little down at my hands, imagining his famous refusal to lose anything.

"But anyway," she gets back to a different topic, "I'm sure you'll find someone to kiss you on New Years."

"Maybe," I shrug, "Maybe not."

The hotel has put together a New Years party in the event rooms. There are two rooms for the event; one for the dinner party, and the other for the young adults who want to actually enjoy New Years and the alcohol that comes with it.

The dress code is a little nicer than a New Year's club or something, so Jungkook and I dress up accordingly.

I'm wearing a relatively short and flowy dress paired with heels and the 'J' necklace I got on Christmas. Jungkook on the other hand is wearing a smooth blazer over a nice white button-up and jeans (that make his legs look GREAT by the way) that's paired with his matching 'E' necklace, only it's tucked into the front of his shirt

I do my makeup and hair with Jungkook next to me watching curiously, "Why do you do your makeup?" He squishes his cheek into his palm.

"I want to feel pretty," I chuckle.

"I think you look perfectly pretty without it," he watches as I apply lipstick.

"Thank you," I smile down at the counter, "But feeling pretty and looking pretty are different."
