The Estranged Draconian

Chapter One-

"Joji Cross, if you don't get your butt down here in the next two minutes, I'm feeding your breakfast to the dog!"

I sigh. That's the second time she's called me in the same amount of time. "Alright Ma! I'm on my way down!" I tell in the direction of the stairs.

I take one last look at my book on Draconian legends. Technically I'm not supposed to read it because the Arc Elders banned all Draconian knowledge, but I enjoy reading about the past, all of the past. I wedge the brick out of my wall and gently place the book back into its hiding hole. After placing the brick back into place and grabbing my jacket, I run down the stairs before mom has the chance to call again.

I turn the corner into the kitchen. I make my way over to the table and sit at my place. My sister, Iris, smiles at me over her plate of breakfast. Mom turns around and smiles at me.

"Well finally you get out of bed, you lazy bum."

"Haha mom. Very funny " I say to her rolling my eyes.

She laughs and sets a plate of eggs and toast in front of me.

"You excited, Joji? Your birthday is tomorrow! Your finally turning the big 1-6!

I gently laugh. "Ma you realize the big numbers are like 30, and 40 right? I'm only turning 16. It'll be just like every other year."

I finish up my breakfast and go to the sink to wash my dishes. After I'm done, I run back up to my room. I remove my book of choice from it's hiding spot and lay on my bed, opening back to where I was. Before me are the images of creatures I had never seen, but thought were amazing. What had happened to all the creatures and where did they go?

Little did I know that all my questions were going to be answered sooner than I thought.
