Black Diamond was made simultaneously to White Diamond. However, white was shot out into space by the supernova of the star they were made in, while Black was left behind, having been sucked into the black hole the supermassive star left behind, and was only released into the blackness of space during the collision of the black hole she was in and another, being shot out at speeds that nearly reached that of light. White went on to build an empire with subjects and something of a family of Diamonds, while Black simply drifted through the blackness of space, alone for thousands upon thousands of years, going past planets and suns and other astronomical bodies, gazing longingly down at the multitude of rocks and crystals and gases around her. Black Diamond even saw various signs of life on a number of planets, and wished so badly to meet them, and yet could not, being just that little bit too far away to ever make contact with any of them.
But, as unlikely as it may be, Black soon crashed onto a small planet named Earth. Black was immediately found and thrown into a freak show, and was called "The Human Gem". Indeed, she had landed in the year 1854, in London. She was gaped at by a number of different people, and she was treated as an ornament instead of as a person, and she even learnt to play the violin during this time, having to perform an act of standing on a tight-rope while playing the instrument. Her owner had attempted to strip her of the dress she wore, but couldn't get it off, seeing as it was part of her body, and as consequence, Black was regularly beaten and hurt, even raped. She was let free a six decades later when her owner's child died, leaving no offspring, at which point she left London, the trauma the city had given her being too great.
So, Black then headed directly east of London, not stopping at the water, but simply continuing on the ocean floor. The following weeks gave Black time to appreciate silence for its true worth. She had longed for contact with life, but now she had it, it didn't live up to her expectations.
Black arrived at another bit of land, walking up to the shore from the depths. She made quite a scene, but overall, it went relatively unnoticed. Seeing as she arrived in Germany in the early 20th century, which, at the time, was very forwards thinking about matters such as women having jobs and being independent, Black Diamond was now able to get a job, get a home, and live relatively peacefully. While living calmly, she got herself an accordion and a piano, and during her time in Germany, learnt how to use both wonderfully. Then, the First World War broke out, and while she didn't need to eat, Black did feel the toll of hyperinflation. She only just managed to get by during and just after WW1 and the decade after. However, she became increasingly worried about the Nazi Party, and, almost the moment the second world war broke out, Black headed east once more, leaving her livelyhood and piano behind, but taking her precious accordion behind.
She sneaked past the German front line in Poland and sneaked all the way into Russia, upon which she settled down in Saint Petersburg. At this point, Black could speak victorian english, german, and learnt russian quickly enough. Now being in a communist country, she went to a job centre and got herself a job and a room to live in in a big block of communal appartments. And so she lived like that for an extensive period of time, plsying accordion for her "comrades", and making everything cheeful where she lived, no matter the situation. However, the second world war ended, and then began the Cold War. She was repeatedly threatened by a number of people, just like anyone else would have been during that time, but overall, got through it okay. In the 1960s, Black left her home once more, having to run away from KGB suspecting her of being an American spy. And so, she fled East more, making sure to grab her accordion as she left. She used the trans-siberian train and made it all the way to Vladisvostok, upon which she ran east again and, just like after she left England, didn't stop at the ocean, hoping all the while that her accordion wouldn't break under the pressure, and luckily, it didn't.
Black soon arrived at the east coast of America and walked onto land once more. Sure, she has been trapped in the dark confines of the ocean for about 6 months, but that was nothing compared to having been crushed by that black hole, and nothing compared to the seemingly endless drifting through space. It was now about 1971. Black had seen the worst of humanity in the Nazis, the KGB, and the victorian British mentality, but she had also seen the best part of humanity in the friends she had made in the time she spent in both Germany and the USSR. She walked away from the ocean until she couldn't see it. She then found a city called "Beach City". She did not approach it, instead, living out on the outskirts of town. She lived quietly and peacefully, having built her home herself, not needing any food or water, she was relatively comfortable. She enjoyed watching the days go by her while she played on her accordion, which had surived the trip intact.
Every now and then, she would see a commotion behind the cliff. She spotted fighting, but wanted no part of it, preferring the tranquility and pleasantry of playing her accordion. She wanted nothing to do with people anymore, yet also wanted nothing to do with loneliness either, so she took comfort in the music she played on her accordion and settled for watching people go about their daily lives. She took no interest in any of the commotion beneath until, one day, she spotted a giant blue figure and a giant yellow figure. They caught her eye, but were no cause for her to move from her home. Unfortunately, a giant multicoloured arm burst from the ground and destroyed her home. Luckily, she was sitting out in front of it on a rocking chair. Black Diamond was rather annoyed, so she, against all odds, stood up, placed her accordion on the rocking chair, and walked over to the commotion down below.
