"We already know where he is. He went home." Jaime sped down the road like a bat straight out of hell. We were still so far from San Diego and that was unsettling. I had to see him but I didn't know how long he was going to be there for.
"Seriously!? How do you know?" My adrenaline levels rose even higher as Jaime ran a red light and made a sharp left onto the back roads. Mike turned in his seat to face me.
"Tony texted us while Vic wasn't watching. Be warned: He really doesn't wanna see you." I nodded in understanding. "However, he also thinks we're going to be out for another day." A smile took over my face and I felt hope.
The whole car ride, I sat back impatiently. I waited to see San Diego but we were still so far away.
What am I going to say to him?
What if he runs off again, what am I going to do?
I have to make a plan...
"Guys, I need a plan."
"For what?" Jaime focused all his attention on the road while Mike plotted with me.
"I need Vic to talk to me. Agreed?"
"Agreed."
"But how? He could always just walk away, or ignore me, and I can't let him get away again."
"We'll just lock you both in your room."
"But how?" Mike waved his hand dismissively.
"Just let me handle it."
Tony's POV
I woke up and let the feeling come back to my body. I blinked until the sleep left my eyes and took a deep breath.
Strawberries.
The recently redyed pink streaks in my girlfriend's hair and the smell of her shampoo filled my mornings. It gave me life to breathe her in and I felt her shift in my arms.
"Babe, wake up." She shifted around and rolled over to face me.
"Turtle?" Anne felt around my face, keeping her eyes shut. She felt my cheeks, tapped on my nose, ran a hand through my hair, and then placed a soft kiss on my lips.
"Turtle." She pulled away and opened her eyes to see me. I chuckled at her morning ridiculousness and held her close in my arms.
"Yeah, good morning." I leaned close and kissed her hard. Taken slightly off guard, she let out a low moan but kissed me back. Her hands ran up my chest, up my neck and onto the back of my head where her fingers tangled themselves in my hair. One of her legs slipped itself between mine and I rolled so that she was lying on top of me.
"Good morning." She smiled at me and tapped her finger on my nose.
"Ugh, I don't wanna get up." I frowned at the thought of leaving my bed and she frowned with me. A smile crept across her face and she ran out the room before I could even stop her. With a groan, I took out my phone to see if I had any updates from our little search party.
"Hey Tony. Valerie ran off, we have no idea where she is."
"Jaime almost hit Valerie with his car. I think she got drunk last night, she looks awful and smells kinda boozey. On the bright side she wants to face Vic."
Anne came running back in our room holding a large carton of juice and a box of assorted donuts.
"Vic!" From downstairs, Belle was heard greeting Vic and I thought of the messages Mike sent me. I decided it was a good idea to text back.
