Photo is nothing to do with the chapter but I thought it was HAWT🔥🔥
# Cliff POV #
I was released from the hospital about two weeks later on a Friday afternoon, as doctors hadn't been happy with my condition the week of my birthday, although it didn't feel like much of a release: a had to be supervised twenty four hours a day. This meant no alone time and at night I was locked in my room. It was hospital's orders, of course, Simon would never do that to me. He trusted me but Rhys just went too far.
Simon was driving me home the Friday evening with a huge smile on his face. He looked super goofy, like he never did.
"Why are you smiling like that?" I asked, looking over to my left.
"I'm just happy." Simon shrugged.
"'Bout what?" I asked, turning my body in my seat.
"Giving you your birthday present." Simon whispered.
"Oh yeah, when do I get it?" I asked smiling goofily like my father.
"Later on. I've invited Ashton round for dinner after school." Simon nodded.
"Oh, I'm glad you're close with him." I whispered. I squirted my isotonic drink, some English sports drink that was orange flavoured, into my mouth. My doctor had given me the drink to keep my blood sugars high for some reason, I don't know I stopped listening. It was good, and I didn't mind having to drink it.
Simon pulled into our house and park in the garage, avoiding the snow. My Mini was parked next to his car, his Porche, which he referred to as 'his baby', which of course I was jealous of because everybody knows I'm his baby.
The garage was attached to his office so we walked through it to get to the main house. All of my family was in the kitchen chatting around the breakfast table. Even my mom and Ashton was there. That was the first thing I noticed.
The second thing was that the kitchen was filled with balloons and banners and confetti. Odd.Everyone suddenly jumped up. "SURPRISE!"
The screams cut me back to reality. All of these things were for me, for my welcome home and birthday.
"Oh my gosh." I whispered. Ashton walked towards me and wrapped his arms around my frame, cueing 'aww''s from most of the spectators. I blushed.
"Welcome home." Ash whispered, kissing the side of my cheek. I smiled. I let go of him to unite with my family, after giving him a tiny peck on the lips, feeling odd about it in front of my family.
"Feels so good to be back." I said blankly with a smile. I still wasn't too keen on the twenty four hour thing though. That's what was angering me right now.
Daniel, my older brother, and his fiancée, Regan, were also here, as well as Cole, still, and his fiancée, Alaina. In fact, every single person in my immediate family, like Teegan and Sterling ,and Millie, was in the room, as well as their partners. My mood changed instantly knowing that they all came here for me.
"Now," Simon clapped his hands, "Dinner!"
Dinner was held in the living room as the dining room couldn't hold all of my family. I didn't bother to count, but there was about twenty plus of us. The meal was my favourite meal, roast pork with jacket potatoes cooked in a delicious honey and gravy sauce. It was scrummy.
After everyone had cleared their plates, Simon tapped me on the shoulder with his eyebrows raised. Then he took his silver knife off of the table and tapped it against his champagne flute, and yes I did have some champagne but just because it was basically my birthday. With the signal, he earned everybody's attentions. All heads turned to the head of the table.
