Colton POV

Jessica had some how got my number and has been texting me all week. She is pretty and all but she is not my type. I have texted Alex several times that week but I don't think that she was that interested. For some reason that hurt. It was Saturday day and I considered asking her out again but I knew that my self esteem couldn't take another no. Rachel and Daniel where going on a date and she was older then him! Why couldn't Alex and I work? Oh wait it's because I am a jock and she is not. I wish that I could change the way it worked but I don't think that anyone could really.

It was 2:00 and my sister was already picking out her clothes.

"Hey you and and Alex should double with us" she said.

"I don't think that Alex wants to..." I replied. A moment latter my phone rang. It's probably just Jessica I thought checking my phone.

Alex: Hey

My mouth dropped. She had started a conversation. That was a first for her.

Me: Hey :)

Alex: What are you up to?

Me: Well I am talking to my sister about her date with Daniel

Alex: What they are going on a date!!!

Me: Yeah. Originally it was supposed to be a double date BUT they couldn't find anyone two go with.

Alex: Ok I need to come straight with you. The reason that I said no to Friday was because I am not quite comfortable with being alone with you

Me: Yeah I guessed as much.

Alex: I am sorry it's just that it would have been my first date ever and I am not comfortable being alone with any guy

Me: No it's totally ok I understand.

Alex: I would probably go on an double with you...

Wow this girl is brave. I like it

Me: Well then do you want to go with Rachel and Daniel to bowling and dinner at 6:30?

Alex: I would love to. See you then

Me: ok we'll pick you up at your house.

Rachel held up a red dress to her and looked at me questioning.

"Nope to fancy. Keep trying."

Daniel was late picking us up. I really hope that Alex does not judge me for it. When we got to her house she came out in a pair of skinny jeans and a cute blue blouse. I got out and opened the door for her.

"You look nice tonight" I said.

"Thanks you don't look to bad yourself." I was wearing a gray polo shirt and jeans.

"I am sorry that we are late."

"O that's fine. With Daniel driving of course you're gonna be late" she said teasingly.

"Hey its not my fault" Daniel said. "I was getting in the car and my parents stopped me and had the before date talk."

Alex laughed "I can see your parents doing that."

"So Alex you have never been on a date before?"

"Nope."

"I find that surprising."

"The only "date" that I have ever been on was with my best friend and her two guy friends that only payed any attention to her."

"Well they are obviously blind."

"No not really. I mean my friend is gorgeous" she said getting out her phone. She showed me a picture of them together. Wow her friend is HOT. I tried not to look phased. She just laughed at me.

"Yup that's what they all look like when they see her."

"It doesn't matter what she looks like it matters whats inside and believe me inside is not that pretty" Daniel said

"Well shes not THAT bad" Alex defended.

"Yeah she kind of is" Daniel said.

"Hey you should turn on some music" Alex said trying to change the subject.

Rachel, who was siting in the front turned on the radio.

We spent the rest of the drive listing to music occasionally there was a good song and Alex and Rachel would sing and dance to it. Alex was enjoyable to watch, but I couldn't Alex's friend out of my mind. When she caught me watching her, she smiled and pushed my head away. I guess not all girls like attention. But why was she dancing if she didn't want attention? We got to the bowling alley and I took Rachel aside.

"Why was Alex dancing if she didn't want attention?" I asked.

"Maybe because she simply likes to dance" Rachel said as if I were dumb.

"But that doesn't make any sense."

"Listen, Alex is different. She doesn't care about getting a guy. That is why she is single. Believe me if she tried she could have all the boys fawning over her."

Why didn't she try then? If she could have it why didn't she want it? I don't think I will ever fully understand her.

"Hey why don't you two go order pizza and Rachel and I will get a lane. Be quick though because you need to come and get shoes on" Daniel said

"Okay what kind of pizza should we get" Alex asked.

"Pepperoni cheese and sausage?" Rachel suggested

Everybody agreed and Alex and I went to go order the pizza.

"You okay?" Alex asked.

"Yeah just confused."

She nodded understanding that I didn't want to talk about it.

"What size shoe are you?" The man at the front said.

"9 ½."

"Here" he said handing me my shoes. "And you little lady?"

"8 1/2 womens."

She got her shoes and she whispered to me quietly

"I am not a little lady." I couldn't help but laugh

"You know most girls would call that a compliment"

"I don't see why. Little is just another word for weak. I am not that little am I?"

"No you are just the right size." I sent her a smile, and she smiled back.

Alex is a good bowler: she got second. I got first of course.

At her house I walked her to her door. "Thanks for the date. It was really fun" She said smiling.

"Of course" I said smiling back.

"See ya later."

"What about my kiss" I said joking. But to my surprise she gave me a quick peck on the cheek, then went inside.

I went back to the car smiling like an idiot. She likes me!
