Third person POV:

"Did they punish you?" The worried voice of Elijah filled her ears as soon as Raine walked into the soldiers hall. Raine studied Elijah as he approached me. His ashy brown hair stood up in spikes on his head he had slight freckles around his nose. He stood slightly taller than my 5'11 at a nice 6'0. She had been gone for an hour and needed time to think and stop the rapid memories trying to escape the prison she locked them in years ago. It will consume me. She rubbed the ring on her ring finger . It was an old habit to touch that ring for comfort. Raine rarely even noticed that she did it anymore.

"No, they did not punish me, I'm fine." Raine trudged past him and made her way to the wooden round dinner table. The red leather seats seemed extra appealing today. Have the chairs always been this comfort or was she just exhausted?

Elijah rounded in front of her and plopped down in the seat to her right. "But the last time they met with you—"

"I know what happened the last time! Do we really have to bring that up now? They called me in because there have been a few attacks lately. The King thinks there's a rising horde of hunters Hunters reappearing and so all the colonies are being evacuated." The words that left her mouth felt heavy.

There was a sharp pain increasingly building behind her  eyes. The news and the raised voices of Raines' team swallowed her thoughts.

"How can that be possible? Each colony has a protection ward around it, its unbreakable." Her eyes fell on Davidson but as he prefers, David, with his large well-defined frame he was hard to miss. He had rich dark brown skin and light brown eyes. His deep voice was soft but firm at the same time. He was quite the ladies man but never slept with any of them in fear that his mate would disapprove and reject him. She admired his gentleman like nature. While his warm appearance was usually enough to cool any worries today was not that day.

Before Raine could speak Gemma spoke up, "Only a pure-blood witch can destroy their own wards. But all the pure blood witches are either extinct or have gone in hiding." Gemma was calculating and ever present. Little to nothing escaped her mind once it had entered. If there was ever a question about the validity of a piece of history, she was the one to call.

"You mean to tell me that there is a rogue witch destroying their own barriers? How could that possibly help them? How many barriers have they destroyed? " Jasper asked. The existential red head with little patience for those who hated to have fun. However, to the outside, he had as much personalized as a tree branch. Raine saw him as a coin— a different person depending on how you flipped him.

"Six. They've destroyed six barriers. Listen, all I know is what they've told me. With our numbers on the decline we can't risk a large scale attack wether it be hunters or rogue witches. The packs will be here by tomorrow's day break." Raine put her fingers to her temples as she divulged the information that had been given to her.

The silence in the room was deafening.

All the packs coming together hadn't been done since the end of the war. This could help us but also cause a large attack because there's not many of us in one place. But the packs would be stronger and better protected inside the wards of the castle grounds.

"So what is the type of fight do you think we need to prepare for?" Fairy popped off her position on the side of the active fireplace.  She was a petite girl with pink hair and a birth mark that looked like a baby's hand in her right cheek. As little and quiet as this girl was, Raine truly believed this girl was crazy. She loved things that exploded and caused a mess. She was never alowed in the explosives unit. Ever.
