Ebony had now been at her new school for a week and she was actually somewhat enjoying it. Sure there was tension between her and Beth, sure she may have unintentionally stole her new friends crush, but things weren't actually going too bad.
Fingers crossed.Ebony was awoken by the sound of her phone going off, indicating that she had a phone call. After checking the time, which was 8am, she answered the phone which had the name 'Mikey' lit up on the screen.
"This better be good, Clifford, I was sleeping" she said grumpily, yawning at the end.
"Oh sorry" he laughed "Well, I was wondering if you would like to join me on a picnic?"
"Mikey, it's cold and raining" she giggled, rolling her eyes.
"Yes, I noticed"
"Don't you think us, as well as the food will get pretty wet?"
"Is that a no then?" He said teasingly, but Ebony could sense the disappointment in his voice, so rolling her eyes, she replied "where did you have in mind?"
"Great! So your down then?!" He cheered "I think I'll have to keep that a secret as you might say no if I tell you the location"
"Michael I-"
"I'll pick you up at 1 o'clock then yes?"
"But Michael-"
"Great! That's settled, see you then!" He exclaimed before she could say otherwise "bye!"
She put down her phone, and collapsed back on her pillow. He's mad. She thought, smiling to herself. Though, there was something about eating soggy sandwiches in the pouring rain at an unknown location that exited her. Probably the fact that she gets to do that with Michael.
She decided she may as well get up now that she was awake and made her way down stairs to get breakfast.
"Morning"
She looked up and saw her dad sat at the table with a newspaper, looking up at her with a smile.
"Your up early" she stated, heading over to the cupboard to get out a box of cereal.
"Could say the same about you, your never up this early on a weekend"
"Yeah, my friend rang so it woke me up" she explained rolling her eyes, but a small smile still appeared on her face as she replayed the phone call.
"You made friends then? That's good!"
"Yeah, I've made quite a few" she nodded, taking a spoonful of cereal into her mouth "I'm meeting up with one today, actually"
"Well I'm glad to see you've settled down quickly, I do worry about you Ebony"
"You don't need to, dad, I'm fine! Living here might not be permanent anyway..." Though she regretted saying that after seeing her dad's face.
"Please don't say that"
"Look, I'm sorry dad... But you know what the doctor said. It's a possibility whether you choose to accept it or not"
They then sat in an awkward silence for what felt like an eternity until Matt came stomping down the stairs, letting out an obnoxiously loud yawn when he reached the bottom.
"Did you pick up any bacon from the store yesterday dad? I fancy a bacon sandwich this morning" he shouted as he came down the corridor.
"There should be some in the fridge!" Their dad, Steven replied.
"Great, 'cause I'm starving!" He explained opening the fridge.
He closed the fridge door and turned around to face Ebony and Steven.
