Clarke's POV:
A new year back at school, I couldn't believe that by the end of next year I would be heading to College. My heart was set on wanting a career in the health industry. I know that becoming a doctor right away would be a huge step so I've decided that I'm going to start off with nursing and see where that takes me.
__
My mother is a doctor and coming from her it is a massive responsibility. Having other people's lives in your hands. Wow, I couldn't imagine the pressure it must put on her. She is on call during the day and most evenings she leaves for night duty. I don't see her much because I get home from school then 3 hours later she heads off to work. It sucks, but I deal with it.
__
Mom drives me to school every morning since she has nothing better to do besides do house work and cook. This way it helps me get my hours up to get my license. I'm much younger than most students in my year level so some already have theirs.
__
I head through the doors and to my locker which was number 114. I am greeted with Raven and Octavia, two of my best friends.
" Hey girls." I say giving them a hug.
"Ah, we missed you," Raven says, squeezing me tighter. I laugh
"I missed you guys too. How was your holidays?"
"Great, until today hit me," Octavia says.
"Pretty bland, i didn't do anything, just stayed home and attempted to do my holiday homework." Raven says, we all laugh.
"What have you guys got first up?" I ask them.
"Double Engineering," Raven says,
"double Biology," says Octavia.
"How about you?"
"Double Art" I say rolling my eyes.
"Hey, don't forget we have English today, hope you two have read the book we were supposed to read." I say giving them a look.
"Oh shoot," Octavia says hitting her knee, "I forgot all about it."
"Good luck then" I say smiling at her as i slowly walk in the other direction.
__
The first two periods went quick, I was thankful because art can get quite boring sometimes. The bell rings and I head out of the class room towards my locker and get out my snack food. I make my way to the cafeteria and wait for Raven and Octavia to show up. I see Bellamy walking towards me, I give him a smile.
"Hey Bell," I say. "How's it going?"
"Well thanks, and yourself?" He says
"Good, thank you." I smiles.
Bellamy is in the year above me and he is Octavia's older brother and that's all I think of him, an older brother, he's so overprotective.
__
Octavia and Raven approach and we all eat our food until the bell rings to end the break. We collect our English books and head down the hall and into the English room. Mr Pike is standing at the front of the room writing on the chalkboard about our first topic of the semester. There's already students at the desks, I find one in the second last row next to Finn. He's probably one of the cutest boys in our class.
__
An hour goes by and we still had another period listening to Mr Pike rambling on about our creative writing task we had to complete in 3 weeks time. I got out my art diary and started to sketch. Suddenly I hear my name being called from the front,
"Miss Griffin ," I quickly tilted my head up.
"What do you think you're doing?" I froze with a stunned look on my face.
"Uh, I was bored." The class laugh.
"This is no time for mucking around Miss Griffin, this is important." He says to me in a stern tone.
"It isn't to me," I blurted out.
He looks at me, shocked at my words.
"Well, I certainly hope you pass your grades, you wouldn't want to be held back a year, now would you?"
"N-No, sir." I stutter.
"Good, now please put that damn book away. If I see you have it out again, I'm going to have to confiscate it." He yells.
I reach under my desk and insert my art diary back into my carry bag. I raise myself back up over my desk when my eye catches someone.
__
A girl. A girl with long brown hair in braids and piercing green eyes staring back at me. She's sitting in the third last row and sitting diagonally across from me. Her body turned and her head facing me, she was smiling at me. I couldn't help but smile back. I had never seen this girl before. She turned around to face the front, my eyes still glued on her, still struck by her beauty. The corner of my mouth raising up, I couldn't seem to wipe the smile off my face.
__
I occasionally glanced at her for the rest of the class until the bell rang. I was tempted to tap her on the shoulder and start up a conversation, but my nerves got the better of me. I watch her as she walks out of the classroom not even turning around to look at me. In that fleeting moment, I knew... I wanted her to be apart of my life.
