The bell rang, signaling the end of five classes, and the beginning of lunch break. Students scrambled out of their respective classrooms, all heading towards the cafeteria. Together with the redhead on her right side, they walked across the hallway calmly. To them, they were more disciplined and dignified than other students who come to school here. A sound of thumping footsteps was heard behind them.
"Hey, Frisk, Chara! Wait up!" yelled the goat-boy, trying to catch up with them.
"Asriel, you're such a slowpoke! How come you can't move any faster with those paws of yours?" teased Chara, giving him a playful push.
"You know, I'm not an animal, but a monster! And paws ain't fast, FYI. Hooves are!" he glared at Chara, pretending to be insulted.
"You're supposed to be a goat. Why can't you have hooves?" Chara teased once more, earning a shrug from poor Asriel.
Frisk only giggled silently upon hearing this unusual conversation. How sweet! Chara had really got this strange sibling attachment with her brother. Her smile died down to a frown, thinking of all the reasons that made up both Chara and Asriel's thoughts and personalities. Asriel was Flowey back then. He was hurt about the fact that his only sister that time died. And in an attempt to bring the lifeless body of his sister back to the humans was the cause of his sudden death. This caused Chara's soul (not the heart soul) to grieve in immense pain at the loss of Asriel. Because of this, she began hating everyone, she didn't care; human or monster, as long as it lives.
Arriving at the cafeteria, the fresh scent of food surrounded the area. Monsters chatting at each other everywhere you go. The mess hall was very packed, and it was very hard to find a seat, so the siblings chose to sit on the table where only Sans can be seen sitting on it. No one dared being near Sans, not because he's frightful to be with, but because of his irritating puns. But why did she suddenly thought of him being scary? He's one of the friendliest monsters she has ever met back in the Underground, why think the other way now?
"Heyya, kiddo!" he greeted lazily, fiddling with the straw of his bottle of... Ketchup. Frisk was alerted by the familiar nickname of herself, used only by Sans himself, but frowned when she realized he wasn't addressing her. She looked at Chara, hurt for taking her nickname. Chara didn't notice, however, she only scooted from her seat, greeting back, "You too, bonehead."
He grinned at the name, which made Frisk frown even more. Why did she feel so jealous for the first time? Sans shifted his eyes towards Asriel, chuckling, "What's up... Kid?"
This remark made Asriel give the skeleton an annoyed look, "For once, can't anyone shut up from considering me as a goat?! Which I'm not!" he yelled.
"Then what are you?" Chara smirked, "A monster?" she chuckled, adding, "Oh no, look I'm Asriel! God of Hyperdeath! I want your soul, so just die already! Die, die, die!" she giggled after her impression of her brother's famous lines.
Asriel sat down, sighing from his 'defeat'. He turned to Frisk, to ask, "Can't you really talk? I want someone to back me up already." he whimpered. Can she? She just can't stand Chara's harassment on her own brother, so she thought of something to help back him up. After all, she deserves a little of her own medicine anyways.
She stood up straight, her hands sideward. The three looked at her curiously, wondering what might happen next. Without any hesitation, she made herself fall backwards towards the cold marble floor. She laid there flat on the ground, not moving an inch. After a minute of just staring at her, their mouths hanging open, she thought of how embarrassing of her doing such an unreasonable thing. She hoped someone could understand, but they were so confused of her sudden action. Seconds have passed, it was silent until...
"Haha! That's a good one, Frisk!" Sans laughed, wiping a tear from his eye. Finally, someone could save her from shame. The two however, are still confused. They looked at Sans, weirded out from his sudden reaction.
"Don't you see? It's Chara when she first fell down to the Underground!" he smiled, still teary-eyed from the clever move she did. Asriel burst out laughing, pointing his finger towards Chara after finally understanding the hidden meaning of that 'thing' she did. Chara on the other hand, was speechless, and flustered by the sudden act. "You got me." she chuckled, rolling her crimson red eyes at Frisk. She thought about the joke however, and noticed something wrong about it. Her expression turned dark and serious, facing Frisk and said, "But how did you know I fell down to the underground that way? You've just arrived here in our life, yet it seems you know more about us. Have we met before?"
The two guys stopped laughing, now facing Frisk, who felt cornered to tell the truth. But hey, she can't talk, so whether they like it or not, they won't know the truth. She just shrugged in reply, mouthing an 'I heard it from someone, I guess'. Thankfully, they seemed to understand her, for they nodded and went back to talking about random things. She sighed nervously, trying to take her mind off anything by searching for Papyrus in the area. How come he's not with Sans? For all she knew, those two are inseparable.
-------------------------------------------------------------
He could not stop thinking about the hilarious trick she played on Chara. It was just so simple, yet meaningful at the same time. Yet how she knew about Chara having fallen down to the Underground, that we did not understand. The Dreemurr siblings may look satisfied at her answer of shrugging, but he still demanded answers.
He gazed at her, noticing her golden orbs scanning every nook and corner of the cafeteria. Was she looking for something, or someone? He couldn't tell. Her smiles just seem to conceal her true expressions very well.
"Watcha' looking for, Frisk?" he asked, trying to find where her wandering gaze met. There are a lot of people in this hall, so it practically looks so tiring to stare at. But her stares made him wonder, determined to find what she seeks.
After a moment that seemed like forever, he went back to chatting with his friends, not eager to look anymore.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Where is he? Why even bother to try and seek when he can't remember her anyway. But she wanted to make sure her true reason to reset, which was to have Papyrus back alive, to come true. To finally work. But she'd already met him back to the Underground during this reset. He's fine. Why look? There must be a 'side effect'? What if something's not right. Just Chara being a nice gal already feel so 'not right'.
It's been minutes already, and there's no sign of the tall skeleton friend she once knew. Until she spotted a red scarf entering from the crowded cafeteria. The skull it held was holding his face up confidentially, strutting through the crowd. His shining silver armor glinted from the fluorescent bulbs that lit up the entire mess hall. It was none other than the great...
"Papyrus!" the name burst out from Frisk's silent soft lips. She didn't mind the sudden cry that escaped from her mouth. For all she knew, her excitement swelled up, running quickly to embrace the unsuspecting Papyrus. She just stood like that, hugging him tightly.
-------------------------------------------------------------
What music did I hear? thought Sans, after hearing the loud cry of his brother's name. The voice ever so soft, so silky to hear, so pleasant, so... enchanting. To whose melody did this mesmerizing voice belong to? He turned to see no one, except the mute Frisk, who suddenly ran towards a tall skeleton that he cared so dearly. Her embrace surprised both the two skeletons.
"HEY, SANS! I THINK THE HUMAN IS ATTACHED TO ME!" the tall monster cried happily, patting the chocolate strands of the girl who held him. Sans chuckled at this, "Of course, who does not like the great Papyrus?" he paused, thinking, "After all... Your armor seemed to have some, magnetic attraction?" he said, chuckling at his own pun.
His brother, however, was fumed up, irritated by his pun. It was obvious Papyrus never liked his jokes. He's just jealous he can't beat me in this simple war, thought Sans. His gaze moved back towards the small girl. "I see you've already met my brother?"
"BUT I HAVE NEVER MET HER!" cried Papyrus, eyeing Frisk suspiciously. Hearing those words seemed to wake the girl up, for she released him from the tight hug, sitting back on her chair, and toying her salad with her spoon. Sans shifted his gaze from her to Papyrus, vise-versa. So that means... She liked him?
