Hi, FireAsuri writing this fanfic! I hope you like what you see!

Gray POV

I hate grocery shopping. The stores always reek of rotten veggies, and mushy bananas. But this day particularly sucked, since it was pouring like the sky had a breakup or something. My shoes slid around everywhere and my dark blue jeans were soaked knees-down. My black t-shirt and navy blue sweatshirt were dry for the time being, since my umbrella was doing a pretty good job of repelling the rain.

Entering the store, I didn't bother wiping my feet and grabbed a grocery cart. I dug into my jean's pockets until I felt a small crumpled piece of paper.

Bread, fruits (any kind I wanted), vegetables (also anything I wanted) and some other crap on the list.

Sighing, I wheeled the cart over to the produce and grabbed blueberries, oranges, green apples, (regular apples taste disgusting), and grapes for Lyon, my younger cousin.

I didn't even bother to read the prices on any of the veggies I grabbed, since I'm using my mom's credit card.

The bread section always annoyed me, because I don't freaking care if one type of bread is multigrain and is so much more healthier then white bread. I just get white bread.

Milk...

Gah, I also don't care about 2% or Whole milk or SOY MILK!

"Damn milk, what's the difference?" I grumble as I just take the first one I see, whole milk.

I also take the liberty of getting some junk food, vital to the average teenager's growing body.

The checkout line is longer that I expected on a rainy day, and it's because someone's holding up the line.

Erza.

"What do you mean, you can't allow me to buy all the strawberry cake here?! I'm a paying customer!" I hear her stern voice reprimand the weasly cashier.

"Sorry lady, store policy." He squeaks out. His name tag reads, "MY NAME IS ROBERT."

"Erza, don't kill the guy." I leave my cart there and walk over to her.

"But it's tempting to."

"Erza, calm down." I say calmly, and then turn to Robert.

"Look, I get that it isn't store policy, but just make an exception before she trashes the store. She got banned from the bakery next door that way." I reason with him, and hope he agrees.

"Fine, that will be 119.23." Robert looks at Erza, who pulls a credit card out and swipes it.

Mission accomplished.

The line starts to even out, and I check out with 56.98.

I walk through the automatic sliding doors and grab the four bags in my left hand and press the small silver button on the umbrella to open it.

The rain has finally slowed down a bit, so I manage to get to my car before the rain picks up again.

Traffic is minimal, so making it home is a breeze.

But there's a slight issue.

As soon as I parked in my driveway, errrrr, technically my mom's driveway, and I opened the trunk, I noticed a little kid sitting on the curb of the empty lot across the street.

He looked absolutely miserable.

There was a small, tattered forest green umbrella that was the only thing covering him from the rain.

His salmon pink hair was stuck to the sides of his tan face.

My heart broke at the sight of his face. It was sullen and sad, like he had no reason to live anymore.

I grabbed the grocery bag that held the candy and chips I bought and took out a bag of Skittles.

The boy looked up at me when I approached him.

"What's your name?"

"Natsu." He mumbled.

"I'm Gray. How old are you?"

"8. I'll be 9 on January 15th." Natsu's face scrunched up as he looked down.

"Ah. So whaddya doing outside on a dreary Saturday when the sky is crying its eyes out? If I were you, I'd be home watching Spongebob."

"My dad left me a while back, and I've been alone since." His voice cracks at the end and I lift his chin up so I can see his face clearly. Natsu's clearly choking back a sob, judging by his quivering lip.

"Oh... Here." I take the Skittles and place them in his hands. "If ya want, you can live with me. I'm positive I can convince my mom to let you stay. It's just me, my mom, and my cousin Lyon."

"Really?" Natsu's dull green eyes instantly turned bright.

"Yeah!" I grin and pull Natsu off from his seat on the curb.

"Yay!" He cheers and hugs me, wet and dirty.

I return it.

Well, I never expected a long chapter. (It's actually not that long.)
