The long road to recovery

Virgil's pov//

2 minutes earlier//

I couldn't hold it back. I just--- I couldn't, I felt tears slip down my face looking at my friends above me in a blur. I had been walking backward bickering with roman with logan and Patton behind him "really Virgil you should wear some more color" roman had just before I fell

Present//

I saw Patton out of the corner of my eye, then he said " guys he's bleeding a lot" I shifted my head over to look at the others. "You need to keep your head still kiddo," Patton said to me as I moved my head back, he got up " roman did you call an ambulance" logan said in a kinda panic "yes there on their way" he responded. The three of them got down on their knees " just hold on Virgil " logan said holding my hand, I felt my eyes start to close "HOLD ON VIRGIL HOLD ON " I heard one of them scream but I couldn't make out which one I smiled weak smile ' they really do care ' then everything went black.

Logan's pov//

I yelled for Virgil to hold on but then his eyes closed " no...." I whispered out squeezing his hand. The ambulance pulled up and the EMTs got a stretcher out " hold on," I started to feel tears roll down my eyes as roman and Patton helped me up. "He's gonna be ok logan" roman said to me as the EMTs loaded him up one of the two walked over to us " he should be fine a few days and in the hospital and some rest should do it," he said.

" thank you, Sir, " Patton said " are we allowed to go with him, " roman asked "yes come with me," the man said as he walked us over to the back of the car we saw Virgil laying on the stretcher with a breathing mask on this sight made tears well in my eyes we all got into the car and they started driving to the hospital

When they got to the hospital//

3rd person pov//

The EMTs laid Virgil down on the hospital bed and took the sweater off of him and got him into a hospital gown, while the others waited in the lobby a few minutes later they were allowed to go and see him.

When they walked into the room they were meet by a sleeping Virgil "he hit his head very hard and ended up getting a concussion it should be gone soon he'll be released when he wakes up " the doctor said "ok thank you doctor" Patton said the doctor walked out the room. The three waited around Virgils hospital bed and waited for him to awake

7 PM //

Virgil woke up in a cold sweat "w-what happened" the three other rushed over to his side "hey kiddo you sure took quite the fall there didn't you " Patton asked " what fall where am I " Virgil "kiddo don't you remember we were all walking and you tripped and fell pretty hard on the concrete" Patton explained "no I don't, and why are you calling me kiddo are you my dad or something " Virgil asked " n-no I'm Patton your friend " he said sounding kinda heartbroken. Roman rushed over "Virgil buddy pal do you remember me " roman basically yelled " no I'm surprised how could I ever forget such an annoying voice " Virgil responded " well at least he didn't know his personality" roman said.

Finally, logan walked over " hey Virgil" there whee a few seconds of silence until Virgil responded " i-i remember you, not your name but I remember you standing above me I was on the ground ", " so you do remember something that's good" Patton said " ill tell the doctors he has amnesia" roman said before he walked out to go find a doctor

A few minutes later a doctor walked in " I've been informed that you don't remember anything before the fall besides one of your friends standing over you " the doctor asked/ explained " yes " Virgil responded " your name is Virgil sanders your 17, but you are allowed to leave be sure to check in every now and then" the doctor said as he got up and walked out the room " some doctor " logan scoffed "Ummm ok " Virgil said, " well I guess we should do introductions so you know everyone again, I'm Patton".

roman stood up "I'm roman " "ill just call you a royal pain since your dressed like a duke " roman froze and started to laugh " that's so close to my old nickname from you ". "okay..." he said a little confused logan stepped up " I'm logan " he introduced.

" and I'm vir..gil? " he asked " yea you sure are kiddo, " Patton said with a warm smile.

A few hours later Virgil was discharged " so aren't my parents supposed to be here?" the others looked to the ground "I forgot he doesn't know " roman said, "know what " Virgil asked the three. "Virgil... Your parents died..." logan said "h-how" he asked taken aback "they were involved in a car crash you were the only survivor, you stay with Patton and his family " logan said regretfully

"i-i .." Virgil stuttered out " hey" roman sad putting his hand on the boy's shoulder " it'll be okay, you'll get through this," he said assuringly "come on virg let's get you home, you need some rest, " Patton said as he started to pull Virgil away from the others

"Bye guys i-I'll text you later," Patton said, "bye," logan and roman said at the same time the two started to walk to Patton's house in silence Virgil gave out a sigh "you ok Virg" Patton asked

"What do you think," Virgil said, "listen I know it's scary but you'll get through this, it'll be fine " Patton said trying to look at the brighter side "I just lost my entire life, how is that fine I don't remember anything, or you, tell me whats fine bout that" he snared.

"I forgot how standoff-ish your ar vrig" Patton laughed "you were always like that when we first met you" Patton explained." what do you mean," Virgil asked the boy "see you see when we first met you you wouldn't talk to any of us, you would always use sarcastic remarks, but then you got to know us and you started coming around"

"Oh," Virgil said unexcitedly " yea".

They walked the rest of the way in silence until they got to Patton's house Patton had already texted his parents about what had happened so they wouldn't get mad at him for coming back after curfew.
