Chapter 33: Bathroom

Soon after that Theo joined the fighting, but after that I didn't realize what happened I fought through them barely able to remember what I was doing. When they all were dead I stood there heaving.

"Theo, check to see if all the kids are safe. I have to make sure no other Big Brother ships come here," I say.

Theo nods. I head to the ship and start going through everything on it. It seemed this faction of Big Brother was alone, but I couldn't be too sure. I got into their computer and logged this planet as none of interest. I also logged this ships journey as complete.

I heard rummaging in the ship. I closed down the computers, and unsheathed one of my swords. I headed towards the sound. When I reached it I pressed close to the wall, and peered around the corner. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw it was Theo.

"Theo, what are you doing?" I ask.

"I'm looking for some things we need. I'd rather not have to raid another Big Brother vessel if we can help it," Theo says.

I cross my arms over my chest.

"What about the kids?" I ask.

"They're all safe. Kira, and Sandstorm are bringing them back to the cantina. Efren is going around telling people to get their children," Theo says.

"We should leave this wreckage for the people who live here to utilize, " I say.

"And we are. There's specific things I'm looking for," Theo says.

I nod. I take a deep breath and sit next to him.

"What are you looking for?" I ask.

"We need a part for the specter. It's so we can have a cloaking device," Theo says.

I nod and start helping him look. I hear knocking on the ship. I look up and see Efren standing there.

"All the children are back at the cantina. People are filtering through to find their kids," Efren says.

I nod.

"We should stay until they're all with their families," I say.

"And usually we would, but I just got a ping from Helaina. They need us,"

I sigh.

"Theo, have you found it yet?" I ask.

Theo doesn't say anything right away, but then he grabbed something.

"Yeah. Let's go," Theo says.

"Come on Lincoln's waiting to leave," Efren says.

I nod, and stand up. The second I do though screeching pain goes through my head. I clutch my head, and stumble back to the ground.

"Skye," Efren says immediately crouching down and grabbing my arms.

Tears sprung to my eyes, but then it stopped. I clutched Efren's arm.

"I'm okay come on lets go," I say.

Efren nods.

"Skye, your nose is bleeding," Efren says.

I reach up and touch my nose. Warm and sticky substance was indeed running from my nose. I nod. Theo, Efren, and I continue making our way to Lincoln's ship. When we get there Kira was waiting.

"Oh my god, Skye." Efren says.

"Please help her," Efren says.

"Of course, " Kira says, then hands Efren Eva.

I let out a chuckle at Efren's absolute terror when Kira put Eva in his arms.

"Kira, I don't think. . ." Efren began.

"You'll be fine. Just hold her for a bit I'll be back soon," Kira says, then takes my hand and leads me away.

She leads me towards a bathroom, then instructs me to sit on the counter. I do. She hands me a tissue and I started holding it to my nose. Kira started cleaning the blood that had run down my face.

"Kira, you don't have to, I can do it myself," I say.

"I know, but I want too,"She says.

"It's just a nosebleed," I scoff.

"The fifth one this week?" Kira demands.

I sigh, and look down at my hands. Kira finished cleaning my blood, then sat on the counter next to me.

"How have you been?" Kira asks.

I let out a soft chuckle, but I know she was genuinely concerned about me and wanted to know how I was feeling honestly.

"Tired. Mostly tired. I don't feel in pain anymore, I thought that was a good thing, but Felicity confirmed I'm not doing better. I'm worse," I say.

"How much worse?" Kira asks pulling her knees into her chest.

"To the point Felicity can't help me anymore," I say.

I hear a small gasp came from Kira. I look up and see a small tear falling from her eyes.

"Is there anything that can be done?" Kira asks.

I shake my head.

"But I know Felicity, Efren, Theo, you, and Lincoln are still going to try," I say. 

"You're my best friend, Lincoln and my daughters godmother. Of course we're going to try," Kira says, and wraps her arms around me. 

I rest my head on her shoulder. We stay like that for awhile, but then I pull away.

"Come on, I think I know how you can get some sleep," Kira says.

I nod and get off the counter. Kira takes my arm and leads me to where everyone was. Efren was gently playing with Eva. Kira instructed me sit down, I did. She headed over to Efren who handed her Eva.

She thanked him, then walked over to me and gently pressed Eva into my arms.

"She's ready to sleep. You can rock her to sleep," Kira whispers.

I nod and start slowly rocking. Eva had grabbed my finger with her little hands. I smiled and started rocking back and forth while she stared off into the distance. I giggled and my fingers gently brushed her purple crystal.

"I'm going to tell you a story," I whisper smiling softly.

Eva just cooed.

"It's about an orphan taken in by some of the most wondrous people." I whisper.
