"Mel...? Mel? Mel, wake up!"

"Whose voice... Sheva...?" Mel groaned as he opened his eyes. He was lying on a bed in the infirmary of the mansion, "why am I...? Owch! Why does my skin hurt so much!?"

"Thank god you're awake!" Sheva exclaimed and hugged Mel. While hugging the little sorcerer the phantom accidentally touched the contract circle. Immediately a very strange mixture of pain from the acid burns and pleasure from the circle shot towards Mel's head giving him a mighty headache.

"Aargh!?! Sh-sheva, stop!" Mel begged.

"I'm sorry! It's just, I'm so happy you're still alive! I feared that the scylla's stomach acid might have caused too much damage, but I'm so glad that I was wrong!"

"Stomach acid...? That's right... We were swallowed whole by that monster... But then it suddenly threw up. My memory's kinda hazy. What happened after we got out, Sheva?"

"The warden brought us here and a chimera locked the scylla away. That lesser-succubus and the maids are currently looking for the one that let the scylla out. According to the warden, there were magic marks around the trapdoor that broke it open. They also found a scale and suspect that that someone is still inside the mansion."

"And what about us...? Will we be thrown back into prison after I recover?"

"No, we won't. Remember that we told them about the werewolves. The werewolves were obviously tricking us. We don't need to save the slaves of the mansion. This place is like a safe haven to them," Sheva reminded Mel, "since rescuing them isn't necessary, we don't have to fight them, so they let us go. (And Mel isn't really a threat to begin with)"

"So once I'm healed we can leave?"

"If I were you, I would try to get rid of that contract circle first," Sheva pointed out.

"Oh... Yeah, you're right."

"There's also the fact that we might still be useful to them. Those werewolves were part of the demon army, so we can help narrow down who the perpetrator could be."

"I guess that's also... Huh...? Sheva? Where did the nurses go?" Mel wondered while pointing into the now almost empty room. While Mel and Sheva were distracted talking to each other, all of the nurses with them in the room suddenly disappeared.

"That's strange... Maybe they left to get more medicine or something?" Sheva wondered, but then she noticed a dark red scale lying on the floor. A sudden gurgling filled the room.

"Are you hungry, Mel?" Sheva asked.

"N-no, that wasn't me..."

Suddenly, the walls began to darken and were replaced by dark red scales. It was the body of an incredibly long snake which appeared after disguising itself as the room with camouflage.

But it wasn't just a large snake. The human upper body of a lamia now also appeared in the centre of the room. With her full body on display and her silver rattle and long white hair it was obvious to anyone that it was Jörmungandr, the leader of the demon army.

The gurgling noises originated from the bulges in her long serpentine body that were slowly being kneaded down her body. The remains of the nurses.

"A demon general!" Sheva noticed immediately.

"Wh-what!?"

"So you are the ones that my soldiers sent to attack the mansion. I was foolish to think they could find someone strong enough to break the defenses," Jörmungandr shook her head.

"H-hey!" Mel exclaimed, insulted.

"Silence, impotent human! You have no right to speak but your last words!" Jörmungandr commanded, "you are a danger to my plans, so I will have to kill you. Depending on how cooperative you are I will either digest you fast and painless like those nurses, or I will digest you slowly for months during which you will experience the greatest pain imaginable!"
