"Don't hurt me! Please!" A young woman's shrill voice rang through the alley.
There was nowhere for her to run; it was a dead end.

Gradually, you could hear her wails and pleas diminish and then: silence.
All that was left of her was the vermilion-stained dagger used to finish her off.

That was something that occured very regularly in Indigo.
People were let loose; out of control. The government did nothing to stop this behaviour, and no way were any authority figures sent this far to keep the citizens in place.

It was to fear and be feared, in Indigo. Otherwise, you might find yourself at the wrong end of the blade...or country.

Jang Yeeun sighed as she rolled her up her blinds and peered into the motionless city.
Mint was a nice place, with a bustling high-street and a crowded downtown - but tonight felt lonely.

Was it that the stars had lost its twinkle along with the faith in humanity?

Or was it that fact the the streets were almost as empty as every other person's face who walked on it?

Or was it just because living was as entertaining as watching paint dry?

Yeeun took a step back from her window, and gazed at her ceiling - with it's familiar damp spots and marks.

Mint was at the centre of the country, it's formidable metropolis, but it was also a prison.
No-one here was remotely good, from their intentions to the fibres in their bones - and everyone knew that.

Businessmen and woman were cons in disguise, neighbours wouldn't hesitate to betray you to the government if there was something in it for them - and everyone had a grudge against anybody here.
   Yeeun understood that particularly.

She returned to sorrowful reality and collected her bag that waited for her by the door.

Before checking twice if she got everything she needed for the day, she grabbed a box of matches from the table and then left her apartment.

Yeeun scrunched her face when she had to dodge the empty packets of condoms, and random piles of rubbish as she left the area.

The night was dark and cold, but so were someone else's intentions.

But Yeeun didn't know that.
