"I don't want to worry you, but I think there might be a thief standing by the car. It's okay just stand behind me, in case he tries to pull anything." So much for not worrying me... My heart was racing at about 150 beats per minutes. I had the urge to grab his hand, but suddenly his expression lightened up. "Everything is okay. It is just my friend being an ass." Looking at the car there was a guy in jeans and a Hollister t-shirt. He was muscular, had light brown hair and bright green eyes. Vincent called something out in French and the boy looked over in our direction and waved. "Trina, this is my best friend Junior. Junior this is the girl I was telling you about." Junior looked even more gorgeous from up close.
"AHHH! I see it is a pleasure to meet you Trina. He took my hand and kissed it. What is up with the guys in this city!? Is this some kind of form of being polite or are they just big flirts?
"So you are the famous Junior, that I have been hearing about!?"
He looked a little irritated, "please call me Junnie or J-Dog!"
"Oh okay J-Dog! So what are you doing here?" I tried to start up a conversation.
J-dog smiled. "I came to just chill here. What about you?"
I smiled remembering where I wanted to go before the mall. "Same. Vincent was showing me around the city." J-Dog face went from smiling to grinning and in a mocking voice he said,
"Well aren't you such a sweetheart, taking the new girl around town. I think you are just trying to call dibs on her, if you ask me." Vincent's face turned a light shade of red.
"Okay! Anyways, is there a reason you are standing by my car or are you just here to harass me and my new neighbor?" J-dog looked as if a light bulb had gone off in his head.
"Oh yeah! I was wondering, can I have a ride back to your house? I hitched a ride here earlier and I'm not in the mood to walk 140 kilometers back home." Vincent had a mocking looking on his face now.
"So you expect me to take you home after you scare the crap out of my friend and make jokes about my motives? I'm not sure. What do you think, Trina?" I was very entertained with their conversation; I didn't realize Vincent was talking to me.
"No comment. Hahaha!" We all stood there and laughed, then headed home!
On the way home, Vincent and J-Dog talked the whole time making sure to include me every so often.
"So tomorrow... first day of school... you are nervous?" Vincent asked.
"Well, sort of. I'm afraid of making a complete idiot of myself, and walking in to the wrong class." J-dog laughed and began playing with the ends of my hair.
"You will be okay! You have us! Oh! And you still have to meet Laurine. She is pretty cool and friendly. I am sure you two will be the best of friends when you meet!"
"She lives a few blocks away from us! We all live close by each other. J-dog lives across the street from you. I live next door and Laurine lives about 4 houses down!" Vincent had added.
We got to the house right around the time we were supposed to be back. Outside, we found dad and Mr. Jacquet inspecting the foundation of the house.
"Hey pumpkin! It's about time you came home. I was beginning to think you bought a ticket and flew back to Houston!" I walked up to him and gave him a hug.
"Oh dad! You didn't raise me like that." he kissed me on my forehead. "Oh this is Junior. He lives across the street from us! Vincent and he are good friends!" Dad's face went in to protective mode.
