Setting the house up to their needs has been simple. Even convincing Ravel to have his please forgive me party here had presented no challenge. The real challenge laid in waiting, the attempting to kill everyone who attended.
They had walked in with everyone else, exchanging airs and graces, the whole shebang. Ravels speech had fallen on deaf ears, that much was obvious. The subsequent dinner well that actually wasn't too bad all things considered. But a little thing like that wouldn't stop the task at hand. So that night they lulled Ravel into the kitchen, with his defences lower than everyone's expectations, the kill was easy and pleasant. Every slice of the blade was enjoyable, the removal of every single organ, even the writing of the message on the wall. Having the infamous Skulduggery Pleasant arrive was unfortunate, but not anticipated. All it meant was plan A part two now came into fruition.
They watched everyone freak out the next morning, horrified at the sight of Ravels mangled body in the kitchen. A bit more acting was required but they had definitely nailed it. Lying was easy. Hell, killing was easy. And boy did everyone here deserve it, none more so than Ravel. When they were a few years younger they had lived in the new Roarhaven with their family. All eating lunch when the warlock attack begun, Ravels grand plan gone wrong. Their father had run out to fight them, after running after him they had heard a collision of immense power behind them and then a crash. It all would have been different if they were still in the house when the war flattened everyone in it. They remembered crying at the sight of their families corpses, only their father remained alive, they needed to find them. For all they new at that moment, this was the warlocks fault.
Roaming the streets for hours didn't find their father. He would be fighting to defend their home like the honourable man he was. Meanwhile, they saw the bloodshed, the fighting and the dying. They watched from safety that night as the wraiths stormed the darkness. Only then did they find out about what Ravel had done, that there was the moment they dreamed of revenge. Just needed to find father, and they could claim it together. The next day was spent trying yet again to find him, not seeing him until Darquesse had joined the fight. From the sidelines they watched their fathers body burst from the inside out because of Darquesse. The only family that had had left. Months were spent grieving, leaving countless flowers at all of their graves, heartfelt sob stories and fake apologies. Even seeing dear Valkyrie Cain cleared of what she had done as Darquesse. All of those sins, forgotten, but they wouldn't forget. Everyone who stood with her would die.
That brought them up to date, Skulduggery has taken charge because of course he had. Using this, being split up and all, they claimed their first victim. Killian Jones. After all seeing him out cold on the floor was just too promising of a start. Not the original target but hey, they took what they could. They were all going to die, what did the order of the deaths matter?
Young master Eric had been easy to get on side, probably because he hated them all almost as much as they did. He was given one of the two relics used to nullify the effects of the sigils, killing made that much easier because of them. Because of Eric they didn't even have to kill them all themselves. So losing him had been a fault but he had proven loyal, even throwing doubt into the hearts of the others.
They would need them back of course, hence the distractions. Such puppets, movable by anyone who knew them. With the aide of the recordings and the dark, splitting them up was easy. Slitting Avelija Rawens throat open had been a piece of cake. Whilst pushing Vixen Skye down the stairs had just been fun. They stalked down the stairs, watching with the night visions glasses as she writhed in pain. A knife in the shoulder and what looked like a broken arm would do that to you.
"Anyone there? I heard a commotion"
Confound it, finishing off the brat would have to wait, not that right now she was a hindrance. They stuck to the shadows as they saw Raven blindly navigate the hallway. An idea flashed in their mind, an evil smile following. After re scaling the stairs, they used the strength sigil carved into their necks helped them pick up Avelijas body and carry it down the stairs. Vixen still lay there crying in pain, but unable to see. Ravens voice drew nearer, so patiently they waited. All the way until he would be just about to see Vixens body. They threw Aveijas body at him, he cried out and was taken off of his feet. His cry turning shrill when he identified what had collided with him. He sobbed and held her body, they weren't sure why, she was nothing special. None of them were. Ravens head looked around, trying to peer through the darkness. He stood shakily and angrily lashed out shadows. Some even came close. But he was angry, upset and mourning. Easy pickings. That was until he let loose a wail of anguish. That was when they saw the flame walking towards them. Making sure the hood was fixed on tight, they watched as the flame revealed Skulduggery Pleasant running over. They guessed killing him was next on the agenda. Skulduggery arrived at Ravens side and a few words were exchanged.Sending a wall of air at them, Skulduggery could only block it whilst Raven was sent flying backwards backwards and bounced off the wall. They bolted past them both and Skulduggery gave chase. Good. Heading him away from Vixen was simple, they weaved into rooms and used the hidden tunnels they had spent months building between rooms. To his credit, he kept up exceedingly well. But they knew he was the best in here, well, second best. They weaved from the dining room to the bedrooms, switching floors all the while. Just a little more, then he was doomed.
They ran into the bedroom that was their own, turning the light back on. He ran into the room as expected, flame in one hand and his revolver in the other. The sigils etched trapped him in the middle of the room.
"Ah..."
Even the best could be fooled. It all was spectacular, they dropped the hood just enough and winked before sneaking back downstairs, searching for someone else to pick off. They needn't worry about Skulduggery anymore. The sigils would slowly sap his magic until his consciousness would just float away like an untethered balloon. After just a few moments they found their next target, looking for Vixen. How quaint. Next to die then.

Vixen just about made out the killer walking by with Avelijas body on their shoulder, she couldn't just lay here waiting for them to come back and finish the job. She needed to get up, needed to tell the others.
Getting to her knees she groaned in pain. First things first she needed this knife out. She grabbed the handle and fought back the cry. She could do this, just one quick motion. Quick and easy. Her blood had made her hand slick, readjusting her grip she pulled it out, biting down on her tongue to stop herself from screaming. She wanted to toss the knife away, but decided against it, it could prove useful. Groggily getting to her feet, she stumbled against the wall and tried to make out her surroundings. She slowly shuffled down the hallway, looking for anyone, she didn't call out as she didn't want to alert the killer to where she was.
Oh Christ, she kicked something. She didn't know what it was and she didn't really want to know. She kicked it again, what the hell was that? She calmly reached down, only holding it for a few seconds before dropping it and yet again holding back a scream. It was a foot. A bloody human foot. Oh my God who's was it? She continued walking and picked up the pace, practically speed walking around the corner. Then she kicked something again. This time she didn't risk it, she didn't want to know which body part was laying there on the floor.
She reached the end of the hallway, revealing a dead end. Damn it, she needed to get back to the living room. Going to turn around she saw a slump against the wall. Oh Christ what now...
She approached it and crouched down, not sure whether she wanted to make this discovery or not. That choice was made for her when a light shone from behind. It brightened up the entire wall, only her shadow darkened it. Darkened the bloody corpse of Raven Laoch, minus his left foot and his right hand."Oh my God..."
"Oh my God!"
Vixen spun around, remembering that there was a source of the light, seeing Mendacious holding a flame in her hand and a shocked expression on her face.
"Mendacious...I...I..."
"What the hell did you do?"
"I didn't do this! I swear!"
"You have a knife and you're covered in blood!"
Vixen stood up and Mendacious took a big step back.
"Don't come near me, murderer!"
She launched the fireball at her so quick it burned some hair off of her head as she ducked. The pain in her shoulder lanced through her and she cried out. She had to convince Mendacious she didn't do this. But Mendacious had taken off down the hallway leaving her back in the pit of darkness. What would the others think?
"Fuck..."
