Caleb has a secret

Tessa came downstairs to get me, "hey, you can go upstairs, are you deaf, Caleb just said you can come up for the interview". "Coming!, sorry just kinda zoned out", i walked up the stairs with Tessa.

Caleb was waiting upstairs on his bed, he was scrolling through his phone, looking around his room made it seem like he was pretty average but I noticed the Psycho poster on his wall with Norman Bates' creepy face staring at me.

"So? you've come to interview me about Alex's death right" he said still staring at his phone. "Yeah, do you mind me interviewing you? you uncle said you didn't like the idea of him interviewing you" I replied provokingly but he wasn't bothered, "nah what the hell, I saw this coming from a mile away" he answered.

Tessa got up, "well Caleb I'm leaving, I already had my interrogation I don't want to live through another one", "tell Micheal I said hi" he answered, she rolled her eyes "yeah whatever". "Great girlfriend you got there" I sarcastically said, "yeah but she's temporary so I'm not bothered", "Temporary?" I raised an eyebrow. "I'm not too interested in Tessa I was just trying to test if she was a murderer, you see Paisley I have my own suspects and case going because Alex was my best friend, you and my uncle are getting nowhere obviously because whoever did this was incredibly skilled and possibly had help" he said revealing himself and he didn't hold back at all.

Caleb was like a different kind of human, he didn't need to lie for the interrogation because he was completely innocent and he didn't hide the fact that he might have motives which opened me up to realizing neither did Dylan, they both weren't afraid because they were both innocent. "Paisley I have a few questions for you" he asked after we finished the interrogation and i had jotted down his answers, they were basically expected, he was close with Alex he worked with him, then Alex moved and they became distant but the only unusual thing that came up was his stepdad Roger, that was Alex's dad, Caleb said he was a good man that Alex idolized but he said that Roger had secrets that not even Caleb wasn't supposed to know about.

"You and Dylan? are you two a couple?" he asked, I averted my eyes "no." I blatantly replied, "is it because you are afraid he'll kill you in your sleep" he laughed, "haha, very funny Caleb". "Paisley if it makes you feel any better I don't think he did it", "why do you say that?", "if Dylan wanted to do it, he would've done it a long time ago, when Alex used to beat him up" at that I widened my eyes, "beat him? Alex?". Caleb stared at me "Alex was abusive... didn't you know that? he took out all his stress on his brother because he was on drugs but Kelly made him change his ways" Caleb explained, "Alex was a really nice guy... he was so nice to me" I stared at him, "no, Paisley Alex was two faced but he changed himself, he became a better person" his voice quivered and I watched his expression soften, "I, saw him become a better person, a clear person with his goals outlined for him."

"That's deep Caleb, really shows how close you guys were", he frowned at me, "are you playing detective still? no! I'm not in love with him, we were close yes but I just really never wanted to leave his side" he paused when he heard himself. "Caleb... are you okay?", "yeah I'm okay, we just were so close that I tried to deny it but... I think I love him" his eyes met mine with conflicted pain, "it's okay Caleb... really, I know it hurts but your just gonna have to let him go" I held his hand, the pain in his eyes threw me back to when Kelly's friend Taylor had died, those eyes are full of pain and anguish that needs healing, how do you heal a person from love? how does someone get over love? friend or more than friend, can someone just let go of the person they love?.

"Caleb, I need you to know that you're secret is safe with me," I say to him and his eyes swollen red now avert from mine, "and yours is safe with me" he says shakily, "what secret?" I ask confused, "you're in love with Dylan" he says looking into my eyes so I can't lie, "even so, love can't overpower fear", Caleb laughed "yeah it can't, I mean just look it me, I was too much of a wimp to tell Alex but you know wouldn't it have been something if I did, I'm just living with regret for not telling him and wondering what if it had worked out, what about you? what if you're wrong Paisley", "Guess we'll find out then Caleb" I say staring at the window and looking at the stars "you're gonna tell him?" He asks from behind me. "I think it's time to just be honest with ourselves, I have feelings for Dylan" I say staring a the stars but I don't love him.
