I brought the car to a stop at a safe distance and immediately summoned a water portal opening the other end at the pack. We all ran through it only to be greeted by the smell of smoke and fear.

The little cabins that were clustered together on the far end of the property were all on fire. Bodies of dead wolves and witches littered the ground. The smell of death was almost too much for Jamie who started dry heaving. My sister created a little air barrier around us to filter out the smell and smoke. We all thanked her but Erica was the first one out. She had been trying to link Mason the entire time but there was a sort of magic barrier that made it impossible to get anything from the pack link.

We had left Nox in the car with Rue looking over him. I had put a water ring around him and summoned it to keep him secure and heal him. Something wasn't right with him and I couldn't put my finger on it but it would have to wait. we had a bigger problem at hand.

We rushed forward and struggled to keep together inside the air barrier. Erica was shaking in anger and anxiety. She was worried about her mate and pack but she had needed blood to satisfy her beast. Invaders came into her den, her pack...threatened her people and she was more than ready to kill more witches.

I looked at Nia and we had the same idea. We were moving around blind because of the smoke. She couldn't blow it all away because it would feed the flames and it could blow away the wolves who were undoubtedly still fighting.

I started pulling on the water in the atmosphere above us. I focused on collecting them together and holding it above the entire pack. The water acted as my eyes in the sky...not so much as giving sight from above, but giving me insight into the moisture that was quickly fleeing from the edges of the pack.

Nia was trying to explain what we thinking to Erica.

"Missy, you have to hold my hand let me see into your bond with the pack. My air wall will sweep through, dispersing the water Kia has gathered above us so that it can put out the fire, but by tapping into your pack bond, it will not harm your packmates. But it will either push out or shred the invaders."

Erica was wide eyed for a beat before collecting herself. She held Lavinia's hand as my sister's eyes started glowing. Using two natures at the same time did that.

Then everything went quiet...almost like an inhale before breathing out, calm before a storm, and that's when a huge wave of air was sent out from the barrier where we stood. I let the collection of water fall as the air wall dissipated it. Instantly, the witches were gone and the fire were put out, the air wall was sucking all the smoke too.

With all the trash gone, we were able to assess the damage done by the invaders. The land was black and scarred from the fires and the injured wolves were scattered all over the pack lands. Erica was tearing off, trying to find Mason while helping the injured shifters on her way. I pulled out the mositure from my the ground and yelled at my sister and Jay to get the injured ones to me, while Erica started collecting the able-bodied pack members to collect the dead.

I could tell by the frustrated look on Erica's face that Mason hadn't answered any of her calls through the link. Tears were starting to gather in her eyes when she saw two bodies that made her collapse.

I followed her line of sight and found my dearest friend laying next to her beloved, covered in ashes and burns. Arms reaching out to each other as they laid writhing in pain.

Julia and Chad!

I felt the blood in my veins grow cold as ice as I saw them. Julia's hair was burnt into her skin and half her face was riddled with burns. Chad was barely moving and wheezing, with every heave of his chest, I felt my heart drop deeper and deeper into my gut. I opened a water portal and went right next to them. Wrapping water around my hands I tried to heal both their injuries but it wasn't helping. I knew that logically, it was no use, their injuries were too much to heal, even for me. But my emotions overrode every logical thinking, because at the end of the day, those were my friends. I loved them dearly and I would go through hell and highwater for them.

I felt Erica's hand on mine and her tears wetting my shoulders. "KiKi..." her voice broke.

My own tears were building up and threatening to spill out but I kept going. I tapped into my powers and felt my eyes glow as I called on more water and lit them up to start healing them but even with that, their life force were draining by the second. Mason appeared and knelt beside me and Missy. His emotions were on full display. His anger and intense sadness was suffocating. I could tell that they were mindlinking. Their bodies were shaking.

Missy grabbed my hand and grabbed Julia's, and connected us through their link.

"Kia.."

"Oh my goddess, I'm so sorry Julia." the tears fell and I was sobbing.

"Kia, its not your fault. It was an ambush. We trusted those witches to keep our borders safe and out of human eyes, but they betrayed us.

"I will skin every witch that I find and burn them all at the stake."

Her sightless eyes blinked shut as she groaned.

"Chad will be waiting for me on the other side of the moon. I can feel him. Kia don't let that hatred eat you up inside. I have given the Beta's control of the remaining pack members. Help them oh great Luna of the Crescent Moon pack. And one thing.." her voice was growing weak.

"yes?"

"Send that witch, Morgan to me as soon as possible. She's got alot of people waiting for her. Goodbye, my friend."

And with that, she breathed her last and joined her mate in the moon goddess's embrace.
