They sat together as they always had in the quiet room of the abandoned house. They didn't speak, they didn't need to they just sat side by side in the comfortable silence that only existed between true friends. They hadn't known each other long but they had become instant friends. They both had there secrets, both of life and death, but they didn't know how they could tell one another without risking loosing the friendship that they had.

Any normal teenage would only have to deal with simple secrets such as untold feelings, but they weren't normal teenagers, they were never destined to have simple life. They were destined to face the world together, to face the threats of theirs lives and and fight for there lives and of the worlds.

They didn't know how long they had been sat there starting out over the storming ocean, the lightning pulsing from the skies, the only light at the late hour. They hadn't said a word since they had got here. They didn't know what to say. Christopher was ill, a virus that none of the doctors had ever seen before. He was dying and they both knew they should make the most of the time he had left but neither felt compelled to do anything as the depression washed over them, suffocating them in the stagnant air of the room.

The room hadn't changed over the last year. Christopher still remembered the first time he had came here. He was forced to move here and resented his parents for it, he had walked away from them as soon as they had arrived in the strange country. Had wondered about aimlessly, his mind numb to his new surrounding until he saw the house. The gates towering above him, the paint pealing away from the rusting metal. It drew him in further, the atmosphere that lingered round the house matched his mood. He pushed on the gate as it creaked open, looking around, finding that the streets were empty he sighed in relief. He could tell the house was abandoned, the long twisting vines that reached up the walls and disappearing into a dark hole in the roof. Windows smashed, the glass scattered across the yellowing wild grass, other patches brown and dead. He made his way through the jungle like garden the glass crunching beneath his feet. He pushed the door open, the lock falling away and crashing against the floor. He spent the day at the house sat in the very room he was sat in now, he hadn't expected to meet Amelia. He had just appeared in the room just behind him. He hadn't even heard her enter the house. Just a slight tickle as her breathed.

"You know we might never get to sit here like this again." he sighed finally breaking the silence. He felt her icy hand take his, she was always cold, and squeeze gently in reassurance.

"Don't think like that there might be away, doctors are always coming up with new treatments" he didn't know whether she was trying to convince herself or him.

"You know that isn't true. My life is over." he sighed again as the thunder rumbled around them the house shaking slightly in the strong breeze that swept through the damaged walls. They fell back into the silence again, no longer was it the comfortable silence but an awkward one.

Time passed slowly the minutes ticking by but Chris didn't know how to break the silence, he didn't have anything to say but could tell Amelia did. He left her to find the courage to say it.

"Chris, I want you to hear me out before you judge me and run off I need you to promise you wont tell anyone." he turned to look at her but she hadn't turned from the grey stormy sky, the lighting casting eerie shadows across his face.

"Go on you know you can talk to me, I wont run off or judge you, I wont even interrupt, what's wrong?" she finally turned to face him, to anyone else she would of seen the mask she wore, but he knew her to well, he could see the fear in her silver eyes, could see that see that her breathing had slowed.

"I can cure you, but it will kill you at the same time." she starred straight into his sparkling blue eyes, seeing the truth flashing through them, but it couldn't be true it wasn't possible. She didn't speak again until she turned from him.
